Overcoming Satan through Praise

In Psalm 8:2, we read this statement which Jesus quoted once in the Temple when the little children were shouting and praising God. As we read in Matthew 21: 15-16, they held palm branches and lay down their clothes on the road for Jesus to ride on a donkey into Jerusalem. At that time when Jesus ca... Read More

Perfect Security

We have an Almighty Father and so we're certainly not orphans. Let's not behave like orphans then. When you're fearful or anxious, you're insulting your heavenly Father - for you are thereby saying that you have no confidence in Him, that you feel He can't do anything for you in your difficult situa... Persecution Is Inevitable

We read in Daniel 11:33, that in the last days, godly people will be attacked, imprisoned and killed. True servants of God are always persecuted. James was killed by King Herod (Acts 12:2). No angel came to set him free. Abel was killed. Every true prophet in the Old Testament was persecuted. (Acts ... Read More

Peter's Attitude To Money And Correction

God had a great calling for Simon Peter. But it could not be fulfilled until he had been tested and approved. Peter however had no idea about God's wonderful plan, at the time that Jesus called him. God unfolds His plan to us only one step at a time. One day Jesus came into Peter's boat and told him... Read More

Peter's Experience Of A Miracle

In John 21:3, we read of Peter telling His fellow- apostles, "I am going fishing". He didn't mean that he was going to fish just that evening. What he meant was that he was quitting being an apostle - because he had been a failure at that - and was going back to fishing permanently! Peter had given ... Read More

"The Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they said to Him, 'Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?' They were saying this, testing Him, so ... Read More

Pharisees are ascetics

"Why do the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?" (Matthew 9:14). Pharisees forced people to fast and pray. They emphasised bodily disciplines like fasting as a means of becoming spiritual and they boasted about it. Jesus fasted even more than the Pharisees. But He did not fast in order t... Read More

Pharisees are hard-hearted

"This people honour Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me." (Matthew 15:8). The heart of a Pharisee is hard, because it is far from God. If you place butter close to a fire, it will melt immediately. But if you put it in the freezer, it will become hard. It can even become as hard ... Read More

Pharisees are jealous of those who can do miracles that they cannot do

"The Pharisees said, 'What are we doing? For this man is performing many miracles'. From that day on they planned together to kill Him" (John 11:47, 53). Here, in John 11, Jesus had just raised Lazarus from the dead. The Pharisees should have been excited about it. But they were not - because the Ma... Read More

Pharisees are liars and murderers

Jesus said, "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Jesus said, "They are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit" (Matthew 15:14). Pharisees are great scholars of the Bible. Pharisees are sticklers for the letter of the law

"You Pharisees tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law" (Matthew 23:23).
