Seek God For Wisdom

The Bible says that Divine wisdom can be obtained only if we seek for it as we would for hidden wealth (Prov. 2:4). Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven was like a treasure hidden in a field that a man, when he discovered it, sold everything he had, in order to obtain it (Mt. 13:44). It is only tho... Read More

Seek To Be a Vessel, Sanctified and Useful For God

One of the characteristic of a true servant of God is that he must be a holy vessel, a vessel who cleanses himself (2 Tim. 2:20, 21).There are two cleansings spoken of in the New Testament. One is the cleansing that God does:"The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. If we confess our sin He is f... Read More

Serving the Lord by the Power of the Holy Spirit

A spiritual leader does all of his work in the will of God, by the power of God, and for the glory of God. Therefore it will come through the final fire of testing as gold, silver and precious stones (1Cor.3:12-15). In 2 Corinthians 3:5,6, Paul says that we can never become servants of the new coven... Seven Great Qualities of David

1.In 2 Samuel, Chapter 1 we read about the death of Saul. Saul had hated David so much that he had chased him all over Israel, for more than ten years, trying to kill him. Now at last, he was dead. If you were in David's place, what would your reaction have been to such news? Notice David's reaction... Read More

Seven Qualities of True Servants of God

In Malachi 2:5-6, Malachi compared the Levites of his time with the Levites of old. And today the Lord reminds us of how the first apostles were, how they left everything to follow the Lord. "Compare yourself with them," He says to us. The Lord says, "The purpose of My covenant with the Levites was ... Read More

Shepherds And Hirelings

In Ezekiel 34:3-6, the Lord rebukes the shepherds of Israel. He rebuked them for eating the fat of the sheep and clothing themselves with their wool. They had not strengthened the sickly, nor healed the diseased, nor bound up the wounded sheep. They had not gone out to bring back the scattered sheep... Read More

Shibboleths Among Believers

In the days of the judges in Israel, the Gileadites devised an unique method of testing who belonged to their camp and who didn't. They asked everyone to say the word "Shibboleth". Their enemies, the Ephraimites, would pronounce this as "Sibboleth", and that was sufficient to seal their doom. 42,000... Read More

Should We Follow Godly Men or Only Follow Jesus?

Under the old covenant, the Israelites could only follow the written Word that God gave them through Moses and the prophets. No-one could say,"Follow me" - not even the greatest prophets like Moses or Elijah or John the Baptist. God's Word alone was the light for their path (Psa.119:105). But Jesus ... Read More

Show Mercy Out Of Gratitude

We must never lose the wonder of the forgiveness that the Lord has granted us so freely. OUR WHOLE LIFE MUST NOW BE LIVED AS AN EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE TO THE LORD FOR ALL THAT HE DID FOR US ON CALVARY'S CROSS. Under the Law it was through threats of judgment that people served the Lord. But under g... Read More

Six Aspects Of The Grace Of God

"This is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it" (1 Pet.5:12). Here at the end of Peter's first letter, he says that what he has written in his letter is all about the true grace of God. In these days when false grace is being preached so much, it is good to go back to 1 Peter to see what the TRUE ... Read More

Six Blessed Psalms

Psalm 3 was written by David when he was ousted by his son Absalom and had to escape from Jerusalem. He expresses his trust in God here. He says, "Lord, You are my Glory and the Lifter of my head." (Ps. 3:3). We usually sing that verse in a comfortable building on a Sunday morning. David sang it whi... Read More

Some Important Truths That I Have Learnt

During the 40 years that I have been a born-again Christian, I have learnt some important truths that have encouraged me and given direction and purpose to my life. I share them here with you with the hope that they will be an encouragement to you as well. 1. God loves us as He loved Jesus "Thou did... Read More

Some Reasons for Perpetual Financial Difficulties

When we receive from God and hold on to what we have received selfishly, we die spiritually. The clenched fist is an appropriate symbol of the race of Adam - grabbing whatever it can get and holding on tightly to what it has. Jesus had an open palm on Calvary's cross and so must we. The Israelites w... Read More

Sovereignty Of God

The total sovereignty of God over all people and circumstances, is a matter concerning which many believers remain in doubt. They may give lip-acknowledgement to it, but they don't believe it "works" in the situations of daily life. Yet the Scriptures are full of examples of how God worked sovereign... Read More

Spirit Of Sacrifice

In 2 Chronicles 3:1, we read that "Solomon began to build the house of the Lord on Mount Moriah". Mount Moriah was the place where Abraham had offered his son Isaac to God (Gen22). There on that mountain Abraham understood God's way as the way of sacrifice and submitted to it. God sanctified that sp... Read More

Spirit Of The New Covenant

There were many under the old covenant who came to an exceptionally God-fearing life. One cannot imagine Elijah behaving in an improper way with the opposite sex or John the Baptist running after money or Moses seeking the honour of the world. So the mere fact that we have been freed from such matte... Read More

Spirit-Filled Service

There are four things that I would like to mention concerning Spirit-filled service, from the words of the Apostle Paul. First of all, Spirit-filled service is the service of a love- slave. In Acts 27:23, Paul says, "...the God whose I am and whom I serve." He was a love-slave of his God. He retaine... Read More

Spiritual Dangers when we are Blessed

Suffering According To God's Plan

God does not protect His faithful children from suffering. He knows that suffering is necessary for our spiritual growth. And the church in Smyrna was not spared suffering. But the Lord encouraged them saying, "Do not fear what you are about to suffer."(Rev.2:10). The Lord warned them that Satan was... Read More
