Taking God's Word Seriously

A bad habit that many believers have is that of taking God's Word lightly. Take Jesus' words in Matthew 12:36, 37 for example: "Every careless (idle) word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgement. For by your words you shall be justified and by your words you sh... Read More

Temptation and Sin

There is a difference between being tempted and sinning. The Bible says, "Each one is tempted when he is enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin" (Jas.1:14,15). Sin is not born in our heart, until the desire of our flesh has been allowed to conceive. When Satan o... Read More

That Which Costs Us Everything

Abraham's devotion was tested that day when God asked him for Isaac (Gen22:1-2). Had God asked Abraham for 10,000 sheep or for 5,000 rams, that would have been far easier for Abraham to offer. But one Isaac cost him everything, and he decided to offer nothing less than what God asked for. Abraham co... Read More

The Assurance of Faith

God wants us to have perfect assurance in our hearts that we are indeed His children. He never wants us to be in doubt about that fact. Satan will try his best to keep us in doubt. But we need never be in doubt, for God has given us many promises in His Word to assure us. Just look at these promises... Read More

The Blessing of Abraham

The Bible says that the gift of the Holy Spirit is meant to bring to us "the blessing of Abraham" (Gal.3:14). When God blessed Abraham, He told him, "I will bless you and you will be a blessing. In you all the families of the earth will be blessed..." (Gen.12:2-3). There are two parts to that blessi... Read More

The Bull's Eye

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:26 that he had a very definite aim in what he was doing. He didn't fight or run aimlessly. He ran towards a definite goal. He fired at a definite target. I remember the days when we cadets were being taught to shoot with rifles in the military academy. We had to lie down... Read More

The Call to Overcome

Peter says, "Since all these things (the existing heavens and earth) are to be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness" (2 Pet. 3:11,12). The message of the Spirit in these last days, can be summed up in one word : "OVERCOME " (See Rev.2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12,21... Read More

The Church - The Body of Christ

The church is not a building, nor is it a denomination. The English word `church' in the New Testament is a translation of the Greek word `ekklesia', which means an assembly of people who are called out - in this case, called out of the world to be God's own possession. All over the world, those who... Read More

The Confession of Faith

The Bible says that we must confess what we believe. "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation" (... The Cross Brings Victory

The message of the cross has a brighter side - a positive one. It is this, that the cross is not an end in itself. It is a pathway to the resurrection life. There is a joy set before all who are willing to accept the working of the cross (Heb. 12:2). The corn of wheat that falls into the ground and ... Read More

The Daily Sacrifice

We read in Daniel 11:31, that one of the things that the antichrist will put an end to is "THE DAILY SACRIFICE". Jesus constantly spoke to His disciples of a daily sacrifice - a daily sacrifice that he Himself had in His life: "If anyone will come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross ... The Danger of Depending on Human Wisdom

Ecclesiastes has been included in Scripture to show us that even the wisest man on earth can miss finding God when he depends on his human cleverness. Jesus once said, "I thank You, Father, that You have hidden these things from the clever and the intelligent, but You have revealed them unto babes" ... Read More

The Danger of Doing What Is Right in Your Own Eyes

In Judges, Chapters 17 to 21, we read about the idolatry, the immorality and the wars among the Israelites, which reveal the degraded state of a nation that God had chosen to be His representatives on earth. They had sunk as low as Sodom and Gomorrah. In Judges 17:7-13, we see the first case of a pa... Read More

The Danger of Using Our Human Reasoning in God's Work

We can create a lot of confusion in God's work and in our own lives when we use our human reasoning and try to help God according to our own understanding. "The Lord said to Abraham, `Look towards the heavens, and count the stars. So shall your descendants be.'...........Now Sarah had borne Abraham ... Read More

The Deception Of Satan

In Genesis 3:1, we can see how Satan attacks. It says there that the serpent was the craftiest of all the animals. Satan entered that serpent (just like the demons entered the pigs when Jesus cast them out of the man of Gadara). And Satan spoke to Eve through the serpent and asked her "Has God indee... Read More

The Defeat Of Satan

The greatest battle that ever took place on this earth is not written about in any of the world's history-books. It was on Calvary, when Jesus through His death defeated Satan, the prince of this world. One verse that we should never forget in our whole life is Hebrews 2:14,15. I am sure Satan would... Let us look at a verse in Romans 6, which states the essential difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant in a nutshell. In 2 Corinthians Chapter 3, Paul speaks about a new covenant servant. There is a vast difference between new covenant servants and old covenant servants. THE END OF THIS AGE

There was no clear understanding in Old Testament times about life after death and about God's plan for the future. But Jesus taught very clearly about both these matters. It's good for us to know about these matters too. After Death What? Death has no terror for a disciple of Christ, for Jesus has ... Read More
