It's good for ministers, both political and religious, to remember that the word 'minister' means 'one who serves'. Jesus taught his disciples this many years ago. Nothing has changed.

Jesus gives an answer to the big question, which was a difficult answer to hear. And it can still be difficult to hear. But if Jesus said it, then there is truth to it.

Isn't it embarrassing to hear children talk about who is better. Even worse when we hear adults do that. No wonder the disciples didn't want to admit to doing this. The words of Jesus not only stop their argument, but also shows his care of children.

The time has come for the people themselves to support the choice of a new leader, and so everyone gathers together and a new leader is chosen. But he can't be found as he is hiding in the baggage. What kind of a leader is this? Is this what you want in a Saviour?

Samuel would never have known who Saul was if God hadn't told him. But because he had heard God once, he was expecting to hear him again. There's a good lesson for all of us there - when we open a Bible, expect to hear God speak. Then, because Samuel had heard God, he acted on it. Again, there's a good lesson for us here. Do what God says.

Transfiguration is a word that you probably don't use a lot, and if you don't go to church you might not know this word at all. It describes something that happened to Jesus when he was 'transfigured' and became shining whiter than anyone in the world could bleach him. But he wasn't alone in this experience.
