Duty can often have a negative connotation. But as faith in Jesus increases, opportunities to serve others also increase. They may not even be considered a duty, but rather moments that Christ, who saved us, allows us to find joy in…all because God works in us to will and to act according to his good purposes.

1 Chronicles 29:1-2, 10-18 Who Am I?

All it takes is a moment of realizing the ramifications of what we have done wrong to plunge us into despair. That weight can be unbearable. What do you do in moments like that? God wants you to to know what he has done for you instead.<br />

Matthew 27:3-4 Remember This When Seized with Remorse

You’ve probably returned a gift at some point. That’s what gift receipts are for. The giver of the gift is giving you the option to pick a gift that is more to your liking or more useful to you. Ironically, the gift that Christmas is actually all about is one you don’t want to return. <br />

We live in a world where sin can divide people along so many lines: ethnicity and race, rich and poor, red states and blue states, etc. The only dividing line Jesus cares about is the one that separated sinful mankind from a holy God. By his death and resurrection, he removed that line and united all believers into one kingdom. And now we can share that message, too. Jesus truly is the gift not to exchange. He is the light for all people.

Acts 13:46-49 The Gift Not to Exchange

When we think of a king, we are inclined to think of absolute control. But when God allowed a king for Israel, he had in mind one whose heart was ruled by God. Throughout history, the kings of Israel forgot the Lord and it showed in the way they ruled. Jesus also serves as a king, but unlike the kings of Israel, he is a king whose will is perfectly in line with God's.  This leads him to reign as the ultimate servant.
