When Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew records its beginning as containing a list of attitudes and actions that will yield happiness in the life of the hearer who put them into practice.  The Beatitudes (as they have come to be known) are "attitudes" we should "be" or possess as we strive to walk daily in the light of the Savior.  Indeed, every follower of Christ will be blessed (happy) if he or she adopts these godly principles that were first in and exemplified by our Lord. Jesus left Heaven and came to the earth to offer salvation to all of mankind, and it is easy for most to recognize the grand purpose of His coming. Christians today also need to help those who are spiritually afflicted by sharing with them the good news of Jesus, but do we recognize the responsibility we have to be compassionate to those who are physically afflicted?  Do we do all that we can to bring relief to those who are suffering physically, mentally, and emotionally? All great things start somewhere, and the earthly ministry of the Christ is no different. The scriptures teach that John the Baptizer preached a message of repentance and baptism for the forgiveness of sins.  Then, Jesus came desiring to be baptized by John!  For what possible reason would Jesus have to be baptized?  He had no wrong for which He needed to repent, and He had no sins for which He needed forgiveness.  As baptism washes away one's sins (Acts 22:16), why would Jesus need to be baptized?
