Week 45 | My God: Relationship—Prayer 
 
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV 
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 
 
Inspiration 
1. By prayer, we can draw near to God through Jesus Christ. 
2. By prayer, we can unload our burdens to God. 
3. By Prayer, we can bring our petitions to God through Jesus Christ. 
4. By Prayer, we can offer our thanks to God through Jesus Christ. 
5. By Prayer, we can present our requests to God through Jesus Christ. 
6. By Prayer, we can receive inner peace and tranquility in Christ. 
7. By our daily prayers, we can have tranquility in Christ. 
 
Action 
1. Now that the door is open for us in Christ to pray, let us draw near to God.

Reflection 
1. We find here that prayer is the antidote for anxiety 
2. This is why Christ is central in prayer. 
3. Asking God’s help through prayer is not a weakness, as some atheists have thought. 
4. Thanksgiving is the right attitude in prayer. Instead of being anxious, which is a negative attitude that indicates doubt or unbelief, we turn to thanksgiving. This is the positive attitude that indicates faith and trust in God. We thank God for making a way when there seems to be no way; we thank God for His grace and mercy that help us in times of need. 
5. Requests may come in the form of intercession or a prayer for the sake of others. This is different from mediation, which is only available in Christ. 
6. The peace of God is supreme. May mga nagtuturo ng mental discipline to obtain inner peace and tranquility, ngunit may higit ang kapayapaan na ibinibigay ng Diyos kapag tayo ay nananalangin sa Kaniya. Sa mental discipline, ang ginagamit ay positive thinking, which is just one aspect or one side of the truth. This is weak because, by focusing on only the positive aspect of the situation, we could not see how the negative aspect of the problem can bring something good out of it. But the peace of God embraces both the positive and the negative aspects of a situation and gives us the tranquility that can exceed our human understanding. 
7. The peace of God through prayer is available in Christ alone. It is not available through other means or from another source

Week 44 | My God: Trinity—The Holy Spirit 
 
Inspiration 
1. The Holy Spirit is Divine. He shall always remain holy. 
2. The Holy Spirit is a Divine Person. He can perfectly relate to personal beings like us. 
3. The Holy Spirit shall be ever-present with the Christian believers. He shall be with us forever. 
4. The Holy Spirit shall be our Comforter who shall be there to help us in our daily struggles. 
5. The Holy Spirit shall teach us to do God’s will according to the truth. 
6. The Holy Spirit shall make His home in the life of those who love and obey Him. 
7. The Holy Spirit is God. 
 
Action: 
1. As we receive Christ our Lord, let us also receive the Holy Spirit. 
2. Let us develop a healthy relationship with the Holy Spirit. 
3. Let us have deeper spiritual experiences with Him. 
4. Let us submit to the Holy Spirit. 
5. Let us allow Him to help us with our daily struggles. 
6. Let us open our minds to the spiritual truths the Holy Spirit teaches us. 
7. Let us honor Him because He is God. 
 
Reflection 
1. Some people are afraid of the Holy Spirit because of the supernatural things that are manifested by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is divine. He shall never do evil things, but the things which are pure and holy. 
2. The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father to Christian believers as the substitute for the Lord Jesus Christ when He ascended into the presence of the Father. 
3. The Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian manifests in various ways. But the main manifestation is spiritual rebirth. 
4. Deeper spiritual experiences are developed as we learn to become submissive and obedient to the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit. 
5. The Holy Spirit is divine, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit means fellowship in holiness—doing things that are pure and pleasing to God. 
6. The Holy Spirit is with us always; we have to acknowledge His presence. 
7. The Holy Spirit is God. But some people regard Him merely as a force. There are many other indications that the Spirit is a Person and not a force or influence. The Holy Spirit knows and understands (Rom. 8:27; 1 Cor. 2:11). The Holy Spirit communicates in words (2 Cor. 2:13). The Holy Spirit acts and chooses (1 Cor. 12:11). The Spirit loves (Rom. 15:30), can be insulted (Heb. 10:29), can be lied to (Acts 5:3), can be resisted (Acts 7:51), and can be grieved (Eph. 4:30). The Holy Spirit teaches (John 14:26), intercedes (Rom. 8:26), convicts (John 16:7-8), bears witness (John 15:26), and guides (John 16:13). Each of these activities testifies to the fact that the Spirit is a person, not an impersonal influence.

Inspiration: The revelation of God's Love and His will 
1. This parable was spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ to reveal the love of God for those who had gone astray. 
2. This parable shows that God rejoices when people returns to Him. 
3. This parable shows the mercy of God. 
4. This parable shows that God restate anyone who returns to the right relationship with him. 
5. This parable shows that God restores to those who return to Him anything they are entitled to receive. 
6. This parable shows that God celebrates the return of His children. In Luke 15:10 we read, "There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." 
7. This parable shows that God gives value to our life. 
 
Action: What is God encouraging us to do according to our passage? 
1. Let us celebrate the Love of God. Let us give thanks to Him for loving us despite our sins and lapses. 
2. Let us celebrate with God the return of other people to him as well. 
3. Let us celebrate God's mercy--dahil, kahit gaano kasama ang ating mga kasalanan, pinapatawad pa rin Niya tayo at tinatanggap Niya tayo muli. 
4. Let us celebrate our right relationship with God.

Education 
1. The fatherly love of God is longing for his way-ward children to return to him. 
2. The joy of God is to see His way-ward children being restored to their right standing with Him. 
3. The mercy of God is greater than our sins. 
4. God does not treat His returning children as strangers. 
5. God does not withhold His blessings to His returning children. 
6. Great celebration is enjoyed by the heavenly hosts for the salvation of men. 
7. Right relationship with God means life; living away in sin means death. 
 
Reflections 
1. Our celebration of God's love is maintained by letting His love ever flowing for others. This celebration becomes meaningless if those who celebrate do not love. 
2. Our celebration of the return of people to God is a manifestation of the nature of our heart. 
3. Our celebration of God's mercy is maintained by being merciful to other people. As recipients of God's mercy, we are obliged to forgive others. 
4. Our celebration of our right standing with God is maintained by welcoming those who return to God. 
5. Our celebration includes counting our blessings and thanking God for what we have received. Kailangang matuto tayo na bigyan pansin ang bawat blessing na ating tinatanggap. Maaari nating i-record ang mga ito upang maikuwento natin ang mga ito sa ating mga anak, at sa susunod na generations. 
6. Our celebrations should be expressions of worship to God. 
7. Our celebrations must be different from revelries. We maintain our right relationship with God and avoid sinful practices to keep our celebration pleasing to God.

There are certain stimuli that we need to watch out if we want to keep the purity of our speech. In the previous sermon, the stimuli were adverse circumstances, such as facing false accusations, hatred, and threat. But in all these dangers, the Lord Jesus Christ was able to keep the purity of His speech. 
But some stimuli are in the form of wonderful experiences. And if we are not watchful about the way we respond, we may fall into the impurities of boasting. Therefore, it is necessary for us to watch out on how we respond in bad times, as well as in good times, so that we may keep the purity of our speech.
