Jesus' Temptation in the Desert | John Cortines

One aspect of our journey is to notice Jesus’ own journey to the cross and how He relied upon the Holy Spirit for endurance. Since Luke wrote both a Gospel and the book of Acts, we focus on Jesus’ experience of spiritual persecution as recorded in Luke when possible. 
 
How does the Spirit lead and guide us as we endure temptation? What kind of help do we need from Him when we face such times? How can we cultivate a relationship with the Spirit as our Helper during times when we are tempted? How can we experience His presence when we go through wilderness experiences?

We took time to acknowledge our fears of being persecuted for our faith and ask the Spirit to strengthen us. How is Northland being persecuted for our boldness? Are we bold? Am I bold? What kinds of persecution do I face? The Spirit can lead and guide us to keep moving forward. Remember the priority - to share the gospel. This is worth being persecuted.

With the arrival of 2022, we pause for a moment of commitment where we publicly acknowledge Jesus as Lord of our lives. He is the One we worship and serve. This commitment to following the Lord alone is key for moving forward into the new year. It’s time to get rid of any excess baggage that may be weighing us down. May we all fully proclaim, “As for me and my house, we will worship and serve the Lord.”
