On the Fourth Sunday in Advent we will set our sights on Joseph and Mary's arrival in Bethlehem. Luke was a masterful storyteller who wants us to know - three times he tells us - that after Jesus was born he was placed in a manger. The manger becomes the focal point, a surprising, even unsettling symbol for a savior - both for the early church and for us. Why is it so difficult to make room for this sort of savior?
