Through our Urban Youth Tech Lab, we have taught 4 students through the local television station how to operate cameras, lights, in-studio and on location.  The youth are my crew as I record the weekly Sunday School lessons.  

URBAN IMPACT MINISTRIES, a non-profit that we planted, features a weekly Bible Study in the "projects" where we live.  Most of the folks that come are "unchurched".  This allows us a fresh canvas to paint The Lord Jesus onto their hearts. Amos is a country preacher and the only prophet who worked between prophecies taking care of sycamore trees, raising sheep and selling produce in the markets. Amos is a true prophet of God who was chosen out of the Southern Kingdom of Judah to deliver the prophetic word of God to the northern Kingdom. 
 
The children of Israel had fallen into immorality. There was a huge disparity between the rich and the poor. The wealthy hypocrites treated the poor with very little respect. Amos 2:6 says, “thus saith the Lord; … I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes”. 
 
These fake religious Children of Israel were looking for the coming Kingdom of God to rule over the current regime, known as the Day of our Lord. Yet, they gave the devout Nazarites wine to drink and told them to stop prophesying. God had given Amos three different visions found in chapter 7, all of which meant that God was going to take down Israel and put them back into captivity by the hand of Assyria. Because of these warnings and decrees, King Jeroboam ousted Amos from the promised land. When questioned by the King, Amos reported that Israel’s ultimate demise were the words of Yahweh. And you already know, the words of our Lord are true and will not return void. God warned them earlier in chapter 5: 
 
• Vs. 5 Seek me and live; vs. 8 He turns the shadow of death into morning, vs. 14 seek good and not evil, that you may live vs. 15, it may be that the Lord God of host will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph 
 
In this lesson you will learn about the character of God and the words Amos delivered.

A Call to Accountability, March 1, 2020, International Sunday School Lesson, Amos 5:18-24

Because Moses’ season as prophet and leader of The Children of Israel nearing the end, God is preparing His people to enter into battle and warns the people of the satanic spirits they are about to face.  God lets the people know that there is another prophet coming to lead the people in the form of a great general, Joshua the bold and strong one.  But wait brothers and sisters, this messianic prophesy is a dual prophecy in which it represents the near future change in leadership but more importantly God is foreshadowing the only man, the God-man who can fulfill roles as King, Prophet, and Priest; Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Jesus had recently fed the 5,000 and while He called the disciples to rest,  Peter has a revelation that Jesus is the CHRIST OF GOD.

Solomon petitions Gods throne with a series of prayers recognizing that a temple without God is useless.  Solomon ask God to manifest His presence.  Of course, God can not be contained in a building but, we should ask God to let His presense to continually be in our temple and to manifest Himself in our own lives.

God's promise is fulfilled, and He manifest His presence in the form of a dark cloud, the people have never seen anything like it.  King Solomon moved the Ark of the Covenant within the newly built Temple and Blessed the people and The God of the Universe.

Of Course, the Sovereign God of the universe fulfilled His promise to Israel and King David that He would allow a temple for His own Glory.  King David’s offspring, King Solomon built the temple utilizing the plans, supplies, and location that his father provided for him.  In This lesson King Solomon orders the Ark of the Covenant to be moved into The House.  Thirteen years after he took the thrown including seven years to build it, God is still faithful with His word and covenant toward His people.  Never fret, what God promises you, it shall come to pass.

King David desired to build the Temple and house the Ark for God. The Creator denied his request, yet David was allowed to purchase the land, build the alter, render the archtectual plans, and purchase the material. 
 
In this weeks lesson, King David, the first king of an everlasting dynasty does not question God to why he was not allowed to build the temple, yet instead, David displays gratitute and humility. He maintains a postive and humble mindset.

Sunday School Lesson, 10/27/2019, GRATEFUL FAITH, Luke 7:36-38, David Rhodes EXTRAVAGANT LOVE

The lesson chronicles the events surrounding God's Prophet, Elijah and the unnamed widowed woman. It is a story of the directive from God to obey the call in the midst of severe circumstances while activating a strong level of faith. 
 
Elijah is called to meet the woman in the headquarters of the idol worshippers of Baal, known as the god of rain ,even though their was a drought. The widow woman is going set up near the gates of the city. Little does she know, that God ordered her steps to be in the right place at the right time.
