In this message Pastor Jake examines Ezra 6:16-18 where the Jews (upon completing the temple) celebrate the Lord's goodness to them with great joy. Therefore, we examined the principle that if we desire reformation to take hold in our community, we must also learn to celebrate the Lord's goodness to us with joy as well. And in this text, we see two ways in which they do that: 
1) sacrificing their best offerings to the Lord with thanksgiving, and 
2) repenting of their sin 
In these same ways, may we celebrate the Lord's goodness to us and therefore reform the land to Christlikeness, and bring much glory to God.

Therefore, like the apostle Paul, let us get "in trouble" with the world by incessantly rejoicing in and proclaiming the glorious good news that Jesus is alive!

This should not catch us by surprise or derail our obedience to God. Instead, in the words of Christ from Matthew 5:10-12, we must rejoice and obey all the more!

In this message Pastor Jake examines the Old Testament text of Daniel 9:24-27 where the angel Gabriel gives the prophet Daniel a vision--particularly pertaining to WHEN the Messiah will come, and WHAT He will do when He arrives--which is what we celebrate at Christmas. And by God's grace, we see every detail of the prophecy come to fruition in the coming of Jesus and in the atoning work He did. All glory to Christ in the highest!

The WHEN and WHAT of the Messiah (Daniel 9:24-27)

In this message, pastor Jake examines Acts 15:13-35 which details the conclusion of the Jerusalem Council. James addresses the people and confirms that salvation (for both Jews and Gentiles) is by grace, through faith, in Jesus alone. But if one has truly turned to the Lord, then they will also turn away from sin--not to earn their salvation, but because they've already received it through faith in Christ. Therefore, as Christians today, let us forsake sin as we follow Christ.

Upon hearing the message (and through an accompanying miracle) one man believes and is saved, and the rest of the town commit blasphemy by trying to worship the apostles. 
So on the one hand, let us receive the gospel in faith, and not blasphemy. And on the other hand, let us declare the gospel boldly to others knowing that God has commanded us to do so, and that He has ordained us as the means of bringing people to faith--even if it's just one man amongst a city of pagans.
