God's Approval - Psalm 101:3

You must not retaliate. You must make peace. You must do all this in the sight of all men. However, this begins from the inside out. Even the desire for vengeance must be starved within.

Is it morally wrong to bring any child into this world who is unwanted? Is it morally wrong for pro-lifers to impose their morality on someone else? Is abortion wrong if the mother's life is at stake? Is it wrong to abort a baby that will be handicapped at birth? Is it wrong to abort a baby in the case of rape or incest? Is it wrong to abort a baby in order to study fetal tissue and its use in treating current maladies like Parkinson's Disease or cancer? What about euthanasia? When does life begin? When does it end? All these questions are asked and answered.

We are trees of righteousness, namely flourishing palms and growing cedars. Stability and growth are God's work in us. Such characteristics thrive in an atmosphere of true security. We cannot serve God as a slave would serve a brutal master. We serve God as a child serves His loving Father. Joy, peace, and privilege belong to those who belong to Christ.

Does Jacob acknowledge God in all of his ways? Read Genesis 30.25-43. Do we see him acknowledging God in what he is doing? We must acknowledge God in all of our ways ...all without exception. God allows one kingdom to fall and another to rise, but all the while He acknowledges the sparrow that falls from the sky. We have a way of judging some things as not significant enough for us to consult God. But nothing is insignificant to God when it has to do with our well-being. We are His children after all.

Control Issues - Genesis 30:25-43

Clearly, David is suffering in this psalm. But the suffering is not wasted on him. It has brought spiritual clarity to his soul. His desire for God's fellowship is greater. This is expressed in our verse this evening: Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name. If we are to walk in God's truth and please Him throughout our earthly lives, there are two prerequisites which must be met: 1) The LORD must teach us; 2) The LORD must tune us.

Taught and Tuned - Psalm 86:11

God commands the believer: "Do not let sin reign in your mortal body" (12), then states again plainly, "Sin shall not have dominion over you" (14). He commands, "Do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin (13), but instead we must present our members as instruments of righteousness to God (14). The key in these three verses is found in the central theme: "Present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead."
