We all have hopes. Stuff that we really want to happen, like, "I hope the sun comes out" or "I hope I don't get the flu!" or "I hope we have a good Christmas this year." Romans 15 says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope" ... but like the words "love" and "faith," our culture has morphed the real meaning of "hope" into something much less powerful and meaningful than God originally intended. 
 
This Sunday we begin a new message series called Advent-ageous. This Christmas, God brings us hope, and this Sunday, we will learn why hope is so important to each of us. God wants to show you what hope really is, and His hope will strengthen your life and help you move forward with joy this season! Bring friends and family and join us this Sunday, as we all get a fresh infusion of hope.

As Robert Frost once wrote, "Freedom lies in being bold." One of the defining attributes of the early church was boldness. Freshly freed from sin and death by Jesus and now filled with the Holy Spirit, the rag-tag band of apostles found themselves right in the middle of a great revival. Sure, God had made it happen. It was His work. But the disciples of Jesus were His instruments, boldly stepping out in their witness and actions. And as they stepped out and trusted Jesus boldly, amazing things happened, beyond what any one of them ever imagined possible. 
 
We all want to live boldly for Jesus, but we wonder how to do it. When the rubber meets the road, how can we live the way those early apostles did? In the next installment of our "Showing" series, Pastor Daniel will break open Acts 4, and share about the story of the early believers, and how it applies to us in 2012. Join us as we look at Peter and John, and God speaks to our community about how, with His help and His calling on our lives, we can learn to live as God intended, and experience the joy that follows.

When the average American thinks of "church," an interesting picture emerges. It usually involves a building. Sometimes a choir. Maybe even people wearing robes. But it doesn't involve them. Multiple recent studies have shown that a majority of Americans believe in God, but do not see church as necessary for their spiritual growth, or even relevant to their lives. 
 
Americans disconnecting with church might be disheartening to us on the one hand, but at the same time it's an opportunity for us to take a fresh look at what "church" was meant to be, when God created it. In the book of Acts, a community that was newly filled with the Spirit looked radically different than today's common misconceptions of what church is all about. Instead of buildings, robes, and choirs, we see people living an amazing brand-new life in Christ, in deep and intimate community. Join us as Pastor Daniel leads us through Acts 2:42-47 as together we Re:Imagine Church.

Now here's where it gets good: a few days before the big event, you win free tickets to the game. What??!! You go into a frenzy to get travel arranged and find lodging. The craziness continues pretty much until you arrive at the stadium, and then finally, it's show time. Game on! 
 
This is right where we are in our Showing series. Jesus had just told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until the coming of the Spirit and then they will be His witnesses. And now in Acts 2; we see the pouring out of the Holy Spirit and watch as the early church goes full-on into Showing mode. Things would never be the same. Does that still happen to believers today? If so, what would it look like? Join us as Pastor Daniel teaches how the Holy Spirit empowers people TODAY to further God's kingdom, on earth as it is in heaven.

With the price of gas today, you would think people would find some other way...anything other than paying $4 a gallon...to get around town. But the reality is, our culture is set up to use our cars to cruise from thing to thing, so we can more quickly and easily enjoy life...doing the things we need and want to do...without the inconvenience of a long walk or bike ride. That extra time and effort is just not worth the tradeoff for us. And it makes sense, we already have enough going on, we want to make things easier, not harder. But when it comes to our life in Christ, often we do just the opposite...instead of living in God's strength, filling up our tank with the gas that we need to power our life, we do everything in our own strength. In the end, usually we end up frustrated and worn out. 
 
We don't want to live that way, but so often we do. So how do we find and rely on God's strength, and know that we are in the center of his will for our life? Come find out more this Sunday as Pastor Bill breaks open Acts 19 and gives us life-changing keys to living in God's strength, in a message called "Receive and Respond."
