Living in the Land of Yes: Home, 2 Corinthians 12:11-13:14

There's the mother at the doorway, and the children at the gate, 
And the little parlor windows with the curtains white and straight. 
There are shaggy asters blooming in the bed that lines the fence, 
And the simplest of the blossoms seems of mighty consequence. 
Oh, there isn't any mansion underneath God's starry dome 
That can rest a weary pilgrim like the little place called home. 
 
Men have sought for gold and silver; men have dreamed at night of fame; 
In the heat of youth they've struggled for achievement's honored name; 
But the selfish crowns are tinsel, and their shining jewels paste, 
And the wine of pomp and glory soon grows bitter to the taste. 
For there's never any laughter howsoever far you roam, 
Like the laughter of the loved ones in the happiness of home.

There's something warm and inviting about "home." Even now, soldiers are returning stateside for the holidays, making the season extra special for many families and loved ones. No doubt "home" is something that's constantly on their mind...the smells, the sounds, the look and feel of the family room, it's all magical as they remember the good times. They can't wait! 
 
Just like a soldier returning from war, in Jesus Christ, we are always home. We experience those same feelings of rest and peace that we nostalgically remember when think about the most special times we've had with our family, but in Jesus it's way beyond any memory of "home" that we can muster. This Sunday, Pastor Bill shares the last message in our "Land of Yes" series. And we are finishing strong together. Join us as we dive into 2 Corinthians 12 and 13 and learn about what it means to find sanctuary in God's world. We look forward to savoring the reality of the home we share as believers in Jesus, the rest, peace, and strength we find when we know Him.

Follow Me, Matthew 4:19 - Sunday, October 23, 2011

In today's world, sometimes we wonder what it means to "follow Jesus." Let's be honest, we read about Jesus walking up to people on the road and telling them to follow Him, and it comes off as a little strange. Can you imagine being at work, pouring over spreadsheets and answering phones, and a guy pokes his head in your office and says, "Follow Me." Would you get up from your desk and go? Probably more likely you would look up and say, "Are you for real? Is this some kind of a joke?" 
 
The Bible tells us that every day Jesus is reaching out to us and 
asking us to follow, and not only as individuals, but together as a 
church body. The harder part is knowing how to do that. So many of us want to go after Him, but we want to know what that looks like. Come this Sunday to find out! Pastor Bill will walk us through Matthew 4, and help us understand not only what it looks like to follow Jesus, but where He is leading us. He will also be sharing some exciting news about how God is leading us as a church body in the future.
