8 Is Great // The Spirit Of Adoption - Romans 8:14-17

Thanks for joining us this Sunday! What is my relationship to the law now that I am a Christian? In Chapter 7 we see the great theme of “What the law could not do, Christ did!” Chapter 7 ends in a climactic conclusion. “Wretched man that I am, who will save me from this body of death?” After dealing with many hard questions and unpacking the struggle between the flesh and the spirit, Paul ends with the greatest news we could ever hear. Who can save us? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! The law is the mirror by which we see the truth of who we are. We are public enemy #1. The gospel frees us from slavery and gives us the power through the Holy Spirit to overcome.

Rejoice In The Gift - Romans 5:15-21

We love the presents, the gift giving, the decorations, the songs, Christmas Eve service at church, silent night, opening stockings, family…and more. As Christians, however, we know it is more than all that! We NEED Christmas. Theologically, Christmas is why we can rejoice. This week, we see how the 1st Adam messed everything up and how the 2nd Adam saved us. This is why we NEED Christmas! All that other stuff is just HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Nevertheless Rejoice - Romans 5:12-14

What will cause your faith to remain, persevere and refuse to waiver when the hurricane of sorrow, stress, failure and disappointment sweeps over your life? It’s not believing harder or pretending that the storm of life isn't there. What causes your faith to remain, is that it is wholly and entirely centered on the God who gives life to the dead.
