ലൂക്കാ 1 : 67-79 
 
അവന്റെ പിതാവായ സഖറിയാ പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു പ്രവചിച്ചു: 
ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ വാഴ്‌ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന്‍. അവിടുന്ന്‌ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്‌ദര്‍ശിച്ചു രക്‌ഷിച്ചു; 
തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭവനത്തില്‍ നമുക്ക്‌ ശക്‌തനായ ഒരു രക്‌ഷകനെ ഉയര്‍ത്തി; 
ആദിമുതല്‍ തന്റെ വിശുദ്‌ധന്‍മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്‍മാരുടെ അധരങ്ങളിലൂടെ അവിടുന്ന്‌ അരുളിച്ചെയ്‌തതുപോലെ, 
ശത്രുക്കളില്‍നിന്നും നമ്മെവെറുക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൈയില്‍നിന്നും നമ്മെരക്‌ഷിക്കാനും 
നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്‍മാരോടു വാഗ്‌ദാനംചെയ്‌ത കാരുണ്യം നിവര്‍ത്തിക്കാനും 
നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹത്തോടു ചെയ്‌ത അവിടുത്തെ വിശുദ്‌ധമായ ഉടമ്പടി അനുസ്‌മരിക്കാനും 
ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൈകളില്‍നിന്നു വിമോചിതരായി, നിര്‍ഭയം 
പരിശുദ്‌ധിയിലും നീതിയിലും എപ്പോഴും അവിടുത്തെ മുമ്പില്‍ ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യാന്‍ വേണ്ട അനുഗ്രഹം നമുക്കു നല്‍കാനുമായിട്ടാണ്‌ ഇത്‌. 
നീയോ, കുഞ്ഞേ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കര്‍ത്താവിനു വഴിയൊരുക്കാന്‍ അവിടുത്തെ മുമ്പേനീ പോകും. 
അത്‌ അവിടുത്തെ ജനത്തിന്‌ പാപമോചനംവഴിയുള്ള രക്‌ഷയെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ അറിവുകൊടുക്കാനും, 
നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കാരുണ്യാതിരേകംകൊണ്ട്‌ ഉയരത്തില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഉദയരശ്‌മി നമ്മെസന്‌ദര്‍ശിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ 
ഇരുളിലും, മരണത്തിന്റെ നിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കു പ്രകാശം വീശാനും സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്‍ഗത്തിലേക്ക്‌ നമ്മുടെ പാദങ്ങളെ നയിക്കാനും വേണ്ടിയാണ്‌. 
 
St. Luke 1:67-68 
 
His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: 
68 "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. 
69 He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David 
70 (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), 
71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us — 
72 to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant, 
73 the oath he swore to our father Abraham: 
74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear 
75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. 
76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, 
77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 
78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 
79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."

ലൂക്കാ 1 : 67-79

അവന്റെ പിതാവായ സഖറിയാ പരിശുദ്‌ധാത്‌മാവിനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു പ്രവചിച്ചു:

ലൂക്കാ 1 : 46-55 
 
മറിയം പറഞ്ഞു : എന്റെ ആത്‌മാവ്‌ കര്‍ത്താവിനെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. 
എന്റെ ചിത്തം എന്റെ രക്‌ഷകനായ ദൈവത്തില്‍ ആനന്‌ദിക്കുന്നു. 
അവിടുന്ന്‌ തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്‌മയെ കടാക്‌ഷിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ മുതല്‍ സകല തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു പ്രകീര്‍ത്തിക്കും. 
ശക്‌തനായവന്‍ എനിക്കു വലിയകാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്‌തിരിക്കുന്നു,അവിടുത്തെനാമം പരിശുദ്‌ധമാണ്‌. 
അവിടുത്തെ ഭക്‌തരുടെമേല്‍ തലമുറകള്‍ തോറും അവിടുന്ന്‌ കരുണ വര്‍ഷിക്കും. 
അവിടുന്ന്‌ തന്റെ ഭുജംകൊണ്ട്‌ ശക്‌തി പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹൃദയവിചാരത്തില്‍ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചു. 
ശക്‌തന്മാരെ സിംഹാസനത്തില്‍ നിന്നു മറിച്ചിട്ടു; എളിയവരെ ഉയര്‍ത്തി. 
വിശക്കുന്നവരെ വിശിഷ്‌ടവിഭവങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ട്‌ സംതൃപ്‌തരാക്കി; സമ്പന്നരെ വെറുംകൈയോടെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു. 
തന്റെ കാരുണ്യം അനുസ്‌മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്‌ അവിടുന്ന്‌ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ഇസ്രായേലിനെ സഹായിച്ചു. 
നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്‍മാരായ അബ്രാഹത്തോടും അവന്റെ സന്തതികളോടും എന്നേക്കുമായി ചെയ്‌ത വാഗ്‌ദാനം അനുസരിച്ചുതന്നെ. 
 
 
St. Luke 1:46-55 
 
And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord 
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 
48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, 
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name. 
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. 
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. 
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. 
53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. 
54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors."

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 12 : 37-43 
 
ഇതു പറഞ്ഞതിനുശേഷം യേശു അവരില്‍നിന്നു പോയി രഹസ്യമായി പാര്‍ത്തു. അവന്‍ വളരെ അടയാളങ്ങള്‍ അവരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും അവര്‍ അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല. 
ഏശയ്യാ പ്രവാചകന്‍ പറഞ്ഞവചനം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിനാണ്‌ ഇത്‌. കര്‍ത്താവേ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ സന്ദേശം ആരു വിശ്വസിച്ചു? കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ഭുജം ആര്‍ക്കാണു വെളിപ്പെട്ടത്‌? 
അതുകൊണ്ട്‌ അവര്‍ക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഏശയ്യാ വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു: 
അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകള്‍കൊണ്ടു കാണുകയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ട്‌ ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ എന്നിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞ്‌ ഞാന്‍ അവരെ സുഖപ്പെടുത്തുകയുംചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ട തിന്‌ അവിടുന്ന്‌ അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകളെ അന്‌ധമാക്കുകയും ഹൃദയത്തെ കഠിനമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. 
അവന്റെ മഹത്വം കാണുകയും അവനെപ്പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തതുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ ഏശയ്യാ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രസ്‌താവിച്ചത്‌. 
എന്നിട്ടും, അധികാരികളില്‍പ്പോലും അനേകര്‍ അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍, സിനഗോഗില്‍നിന്നു ബഹിഷ്‌കൃതരാകാതിരിക്കാന്‍വേണ്ടി ഫരിസേയരെ ഭയന്ന്‌ അവരാരും അത്‌ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞില്ല. 
ദൈവത്തില്‍നിന്നുള്ള മഹത്വത്തെക്കാളധികം മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രശംസ അവര്‍ അഭിലഷിച്ചു. 
 
 
St. John 12:37-43 
 
 
Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. 
38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: "Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" 
39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: 
40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn —and I would heal them." 
41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him. 
42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 
43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

യോഹന്നാന്‍ 12 : 37-43

അതുകൊണ്ട്‌ അവര്‍ക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ഏശയ്യാ വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു:
അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകള്‍കൊണ്ടു കാണുകയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ട്‌ ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ എന്നിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞ്‌ ഞാന്‍ അവരെ സുഖപ്പെടുത്തുകയുംചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ട തിന്‌ അവിടുന്ന്‌ അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകളെ അന്‌ധമാക്കുകയും ഹൃദയത്തെ കഠിനമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു.
അവന്റെ മഹത്വം കാണുകയും അവനെപ്പറ്റി സംസാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തതുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ ഏശയ്യാ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രസ്‌താവിച്ചത്‌.
എന്നിട്ടും, അധികാരികളില്‍പ്പോലും അനേകര്‍ അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍, സിനഗോഗില്‍നിന്നു ബഹിഷ്‌കൃതരാകാതിരിക്കാന്‍വേണ്ടി ഫരിസേയരെ ഭയന്ന്‌ അവരാരും അത്‌ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞില്ല.
ദൈവത്തില്‍നിന്നുള്ള മഹത്വത്തെക്കാളധികം മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രശംസ അവര്‍ അഭിലഷിച്ചു.

ലൂക്കാ 19 : 45-48 
 
 
അനന്തരം അവന്‍ ദേവാലയത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിച്ച്‌, അവിടെ കച്ചവടം നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നവരെ പുറത്താക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. 
അവന്‍ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: എന്റെ ആലയം പ്രാര്‍ഥനാലയം എന്ന്‌ എഴുതപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളോ അതിനെ കവര്‍ച്ചക്കാരുടെ ഗുഹയായി മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു. 
അവന്‍ ദിവസവും ദേവാലയത്തില്‍ പ ഠിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. പുരോഹിതപ്രമുഖന്‍മാരും നിയമജ്‌ഞരും ജനപ്രമാണികളും അവനെ നശിപ്പിക്കാന്‍മാര്‍ഗം അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. 
എന്നാല്‍, അവര്‍ക്ക്‌ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. കാരണം, ജനങ്ങളെല്ലാം അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളില്‍ മുഴുകി അവനെ വിട്ടുപോകാതെ നിന്നു.

When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 
46 "It is written," he said to them, "’My house will be a house of prayer’ ; but you have made it ’a den of robbers.’ " 
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. 
48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
