John 8:39-47 ESV 
 
39 They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40 but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” 
 
39 Sila'y sumagot sa kanya, “Si Abraham ang aming ama.” Sa kanila'y sinabi ni Jesus, “Kung kayo'y mga anak ni Abraham ay gagawin ninyo ang mga gawa ni Abraham. 40 Subalit ngayo'y pinagsisikapan ninyo akong patayin, isang taong nagsasabi sa inyo ng katotohanan na aking narinig sa Diyos. Ito'y hindi ginawa ni Abraham. 41 Ginagawa ninyo ang mga gawa ng inyong ama.” Sinabi nila sa kanya, “Hindi kami ipinanganak sa pakikiapid. Mayroon kaming isang Ama, ang Diyos.” 42 Sinabi sa kanila ni Jesus, “Kung ang Diyos ang inyong ama, ay inibig ninyo sana ako, sapagkat ako'y nagmula sa Diyos at ngayon ay naririto ako. Hindi ako naparito mula sa aking sarili kundi sinugo niya ako. 43 Bakit hindi ninyo nauunawaan ang aking sinasabi? Sapagkat hindi ninyo matanggap ang aking salita. 44 Kayo'y mula sa inyong amang diyablo, at ang nais ninyong gawin ay ang kagustuhan ng inyong ama. Siya'y isang mamamatay-tao buhat pa sa simula, at hindi naninindigan sa katotohanan, sapagkat walang katotohanan sa kanya. Kapag siya ay nagsasalita ng kasinungalingan, siya ay nagsasalita ayon sa kanyang sariling likas, sapagkat siya'y isang sinungaling, at ama ng kasinungalingan. 45 Ngunit dahil sa sinasabi ko ang katotohanan ay hindi kayo nananampalataya sa akin. 46 Sino sa inyo ang makakasumbat sa akin tungkol sa kasalanan? Kung sinasabi ko ang katotohanan, bakit hindi kayo sumasampalataya sa akin? 47 Ang mula sa Diyos ay nakikinig ng mga salita ng Diyos. Ang dahilan kung bakit hindi ninyo pinakikinggan ang mga ito ay sapagkat kayo'y hindi mula sa Diyos.” 
 
WHO IS YOUR FATHER? 
 
While Jesus is certain that God is His father, His critics were deceived. They argued strongly that because their father is Abraham, it followed that God is their father. Claiming that they weren’t born out of ‘sexual immorality’, they believed that their undiluted ethnicity had given them automatically the right to belong to the Father. Having been hoodwinked by these lies of Satan, they didn’t realize he was their father in reality. Sadly, their religious zeal and advocacy had made their delusion harder to discover. 
 
Thus, let’s not believe every spirit today but test the spirits whether they are from God.[1 John 4:1] Satan could transform himself into an angel of light.[2 Cor 11:14] Today, how many religious fanatics who in the name of God are persecuting the children of God and hindering His work? 
 
They did not do the work of Abraham, who believed the Messiah. In what way? They oppose the lord Jesus, even wanted to kill Him. Abraham wasn’t a murderer, was he? Jesus had diagnosed their fundamental problem. He said, “Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires.” The nature of the children is inherited from their father. Jesus exposed Satan’s nature by saying, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” 
 
Nobody among them could accuse Jesus as guilty of any sin. In other words, they had witnessed the impeccability of Jesus. But, they won’t believe, even just to listen to Him. Why? For the simple reason that they did not belong to God, but to their father, the devil. Thus, if you and I claim to belong to God, our Father , we must love to hear the word of God. For Jesus said, “whoever is of God hears the word of God.”

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13 So the Pharisees said to him, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.” 14 Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 
 
12 Muling nagsalita sa kanila si Jesus, “Ako ang ilaw ng sanlibutan. Ang sumusunod sa akin ay hindi kailanman lalakad sa kadiliman, kundi magkakaroon ng ilaw ng buhay.” 13 Sinabi sa kanya ng mga Fariseo, “Nagpapatotoo ka tungkol sa iyong sarili; ang patotoo mo ay hindi totoo.” 14 Sumagot si Jesus, “Kung ako ma'y nagpapatotoo tungkol sa aking sarili, ang aking patotoo ay totoo; sapagkat nalalaman ko kung saan ako nanggaling, at kung saan ako pupunta. I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD 
 
The Feastof the Tabernacles was about to end. As part of this major festival, lamps would be lit using wicks made from priestly garments. Then, Jesus turned t the crowdand said, “I am the light of the world.” This is His second “I am”statement in the book of John. 
 
For the a Jew, ‘light’ was the ultimate ideal, a representation of salvation, knowledge, and goodness. For Jesus to claim as the "light of the world" was no small matter. In fact, it is a claim to equality with God. It is undestood as He is the only source of light. Nobody else. 
 
No wonder, if sparked a strong opposition to the unbelieving Jews, saying “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.” In this case, however, Jesus is speaking directly of things which no person on earth has first-hand knowledge of. For those statements, Jesus and Jesus alone has the authority to testify about Himself. Only one person has ever actually seen the truths being claimed. Thus, only that person can speak of them , who is Jesus, who came down from heaven. 
 
This iclaim has a corresponding promise. Should anyone follow Him, he is ushered from walking in the darkness into walking in the light. The image isn’t one following a ray of light at a distance. But. He has in his life, in his possession, the light of life. No wonder, jesus calls us “you are the light of the world” because He who is the light of the world is in us. The psalmist had expressed this truth in Psa 12:46, “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.”

25 Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? 26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ? 27 But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from.” 28 So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. 29 I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.” 30 So they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. 31 Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, “When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?”

KNOWING ABOUT JESUS. 
 
This passage described the differing opinions about Jesus by people. They had all the information they needed but still they rejected Him. This includes the writings of Moses and the other prophets (John 5:45–47); the miracles He did (John 5:36), and the testimony of others (John 5:33). Yet, they did not believe Him. 
 
Those who won't come to Christ do so because they have no intention of doing so (John 5:39–40). Their disobedience resulted to a lack of understanding the truth (John 7:17). As a result, even though Jesus has authenticated the message of God, and comes from God, and is God (John 1:1), He even was not accepted, even by members of His own family (John 7:1–9). 
 
It was sad that they saw and witnessed what Jesus did yet they refused to believe. A reality that many could explain and articulate the truth but have not embraced Him heartily. They knew about Jesus, even very familiar with Him, but had not known Him in a personal way. 
The question for us today is “Do we know Jesus personally?” That, we just don’t satisfy to know about the facts of Jesus life and deeds. Let us be certain that we have a living and authentic relationship with Him. Notably, it’s only biblical Christianity reveals that God can dwell in man. Thus, Paul has expressed, “ I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”[Gal 2:20] O may Jesus will dwell in our hearts richly as believers.[Eph 3:17]

John 4:43-54 ESV 
43 After the two days he departed for Galilee. 44 (For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.) 45 So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast. For they too had gone to the feast. 
46 So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” 49 The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. 51 As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was recovering. 52 So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” And he himself believed, and all his household. 54 This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

HIS WORD IS ENOUGH 
 
Many Galilleans believed Him, especially the pilgrims who went for the feast at jerusalem. They saw what Jesus did at the temple. Man, by nature has the propensity to only believe if the evidence is convincing. To see I to believe. He went back to Galillee as a popular guy. 
 
He must be welcomed at Cana where he turned water into wine. This time, he proceeded to Capernaum to do another miracle. A desperate official was pleading Him to heal his sick and dying son. Jesus had checked his heart by asking, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” Signs and wonders that He did had attracted so many people. But, for the wrong and selfish reasons. Jesus point in doing miracles was to authenticate His message and claim as the Messiah. 
 
The official’s idea was for Jesus to come and visit his son in in order to heal him person. Jesus must come quickly, otherwise his son will die. But, His “thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are our ways my ways” [Isa 55:8] Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” His word was enough and the official believed Him. 
 
As he went back home, he met his servants. Obviously, they were so excited to tell him that his son had recovered. He learned from them his son got healed at same the time Jesus told him to go back and see his son alive. As, Mary said to the servants during the wedding at Cana, “Do whatever he tells you.”, the water turned into wine. Miracles happen upon our obedience to His words. Whatever Jesus says, that settles it. 
 
At one instance, the disciples were full of amazement that the unfruitful fig tree died as Jesus said it would. The next day when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?”[Matt 21:20] In short, whatever He says are true and would happen. 
 
Thus, let’s pay attention to His words. Jesus said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”[John 6:63] He even claimed, “ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”[Matt 24:35]

John 4:35-38 ESV 
 
35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. 36 Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. 37 For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

35 Hindi ba sinasabi ninyo, ‘May apat na buwan pa at darating na ang pag-aani?’ Ngunit sinasabi ko sa inyo, masdan ninyo ang inyong paligid at inyong tingnan ang mga bukid na mapuputi na upang anihin. 36 Ang umaani ay tumatanggap ng upa, at nagtitipon ng bunga para sa buhay na walang hanggan, upang ang naghahasik at ang umaani ay magkasamang magalak. 37 Sapagkat dito'y totoo ang kasabihan, ‘Isa ang naghahasik, at iba ang umaani.’ 38 Kayo'y sinugo ko upang anihin ang hindi ninyo pinagpaguran; iba ang nagpagod at kayo'y pumasok sa kanilang pinagpaguran.” 
 
THE FIELDS ARE WHITE FOR HARVEST 
 
Jesus has called His disciples as laborers [farmers] in His harvest-field. Raising wheat or barley is a process of long preparation, planting and cultivating, then the harvest. Farmers are noted of being patient. “The farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.” [James 5:7] Jesus has recognized our propensity to wait, as farmers do for the harvest to come. They are looking for signs about the physical characteristics of the grain. 
 
However, the harvest is real and abundant. It’s here and now according to Jesus. The problem isn’t the harvest. But, we haven’t lifted our eyes. How can we see if we don’t go and see them? We wait for so long because we couldn’t believe Jesus’ words. We won’t see the harvest if we sit at our rocking chairs and are waiting for some visions. It won’t happen. Unless, you and I are like the predicament of Paul, who was busy on the road to preach the good news. Paul’s eyes was going for Asia when God gave him a vison. A man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” [Acts 16:9] 
 
Information is inspiration. We must see the harvest-field by our naked eyes. Let us go out from our comfort zones and step out and see God’s work. It’s His work in and through His people. We are benefiting each other in God’s vineyard. Nobody could claim for it’s His working. As Jesus has said, “Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. 37 For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” 
 
This was echoed by Paul, who writes, “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.”[1 Cor 3:7-9]

HE IS ABOVE ALL 
 
Only Jesus has come from Heaven (John 3:13) And, only those who believe His message can be saved (John 3:18). He has the only true testimony. This word translated "testimony" is martureo, which means "to report," or "to affirm," in the same sense that a person's statement in court is called their "testimony." The apostle John uses this term very often, more than 30 times in this gospel, and 40 times overall. 
 
Jesus brought revelation which is far superior than any other teacher, or any other may claim. Sadly, many despised Him and His message. However, those who do accept Jesus are accepting God (John 3:16). This leads to eternal life, as well as spiritual relationship and growth (John 1:12). He even came in the power of the Spirit.[John 16:9,10] A person cannot truly understand spiritual things without this salvation (1 Cor 2:14). Repeatedly, the Bible explains that the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6; 3:36; 3:18). 
 
Yes, the Father loves the Son as the relationship of the Godhead ever is. Yet, he did not spare but gave Him for us. [Rom 8:32, 5:8] Thus, believing and rejecting Him mean receiving eternal life and eternal wrath from God, respectively.[see v.18]

27 And in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. 28 And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were with him in Babylon. 29 So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king's table, 30 and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, as long as he lived.

THE FAVOR 
 
It was Nebuchadnezzar who took Jehoiachin as prisoner along with his mother, his wives, his officials, and the leading men in Judah (2 Kings 24:16). Nebuchadnezzar also took ten thousand others into exile, leaving only the poorest behind, and he raided the temple (2 Kings 24:13–14; 2 Chron 36:10). 
 
While he was imprisoned in Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar installed Jehoiachin’s uncle, Zedekiah, on the throne. He was rebellious against God and against King Nebuchadnezzar (2 Chron 36:12–13). After eleven years of Zedekiah’s rule, Jerusalem fully fell to Nebuchadnezzar. More exiles were carried off, and the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem’s walls and burned the temple and the palaces (2 Kings 25:9–10; 2 Chronicles 36:19; Jer 52:13–14). Jerusalem was destroyed. 
 
Thirty-seven years after Jehoiachin’s deportation, he was given some freedom in Babylon. Evil-Merodach had become king of Babylon (2 Kings 25:27; Jer 52:31), and he “spoke kindly” to Jehoiachin and gave him a seat of honor at his table and a daily allowance (2 Kings 25:28–30; Jer 52:32–34). “So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king's table” (v.29). 
 
The granting of grace isn’t always explanable, is it? It is an act done that transcends reason. This is a strange narrative—son of a puppet king of Egypt, imprisoned by the king of Babylon to make room for another puppet king, taken in the second wave of exiles, yet released from prison and given a gracious end to his life. We do not know what happened during his years in prison or why Evil-Merodach was so kind to him. What is evident in the story of Jehoiachin is God’s righteous judgment as well as His merciful grace.

22 And over the people who remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, he appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, governor. 23 Now when all the captains and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah governor, they came with their men to Gedaliah at Mizpah, namely, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite. 24 And Gedaliah swore to them and their men, saying, “Do not be afraid because of the Chaldean officials. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.” 25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the royal family, came with ten men and struck down Gedaliah and put him to death along with the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah. 26 Then all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces arose and went to Egypt, for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

LIVE AND SERVE GOD TODAY 
 
All the Jews were brought to Babylon except the poor. Thus, Gedaliah , the grandson of Josiah’s Secretary Shaphan, was appointed as governor to those left behind in Judah. He was under the watchful eyes of the Babylonians. He admonished the people saying, “Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.” Unpatriotic as it sounded yet it was the best they could do. The best they could do under this situation of deserved and unstoppable judgment was to simply accept it from the hand of God and do the right thing under the Babylonians. 
 
Did Gedaliah know the words of Jeremiah? Most probably, that is, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.”[Jer 29:4,6] Nothing could be best other than abiding in the will of God even though we couldn’t comprehend everything about it. 
 
However, Ishmael with ten others differed so that he killed Gedaliah along with the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah. Definitely, this could cause retaliation so that all the people fled to Egypt. A fulfilment that the land will be deserted, as Jeremiah declared, “Be warned, O Jerusalem, lest I turn from you in disgust, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.” [Jer 6:8] This was a 180 degree-turn. While Moses had brought them out from Egypt many years back, this time they went back to seek refuge in Egypt from Babylon. 
 
Today, we are in pandemic captivity. God has allowed this and let us subscribe to His plan. Let’s not be a victim of a covid scare but be a victor by blooming in and for Christ. How could we make this Covid pandemic work for God and us? May God help us.

THE LAST KING OF JUDAH 
 
Zedekiah was the last king of Judah and thus, he witnessed the temple destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC and the majority of the people carried into exile. The story of Zedekiah is told in 2 Kings 24–25, 2 Chron 36, and the book of Jeremiah. Zedekiah’s original name was Mattaniah. He was the son of King Josiah and the brother of King Jehoahaz and King Jehoiakim. Zedekiah wouldn’t be included in the line to the throne, if not he kings preceding did not make bad decisions, both spiritually and politically, and were removed in succession. 
 
Second Kings gives the basic historical outline and 2 Chron 36. And, Jeremiah fills in much of the behind-the-scenes information and the spiritual component of Zedekiah’s life. During the siege of Jerusalem, Zedekiah asked Jeremiah to intercede to the Lord for Judah to be delivered. Jeremiah returned God’s answer: He has irrevocably handed Judah over to judgment, first by plague, and those who escape that will fall to the Babylonians. Thus, the only hope that any of the people have is to surrender to the Babylonians. “Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives” (Jer 21: 9). 
 
Zedekiah did not like God’s answer. False prophets contradicted Jeremiah and preached a more favorable message (see Jer 23). However, God reiterated His message to Jeremiah (see Jer chap 24–25). King Zedekiah imprisoned Jeremiah to the courtyard of the guard in the palace but he did not compromise his message. 
 
 
Meanwhile, Jeremiah assured Zedekiah that the king will die peacefully in Babylon, but that the city of Jerusalem will not escape. Later, Zedekiah had freed all the slaves that should have been freed every seven years, a command of the Law that was neglected over the years. However, Zedekiah then reversed his decision and allowed the freed slaves to be enslaved again. 
 
Finally, during the Babylonian siege, Zedekiah fled the city by night but was captured. Zedekiah’s sons were killed before him, and then he was blinded and taken to Babylon in chains (see Jer 52; 2 Kings 25; 2 Chron 36). Then the Babylonians broke down the walls of Jerusalem, burned the temple, and took the temple articles to Babylon with them, They took the king Zedekiah there where he died years later. No doubt it was a peaceful death as the Lord had promised, but what awful memories he must have endured during the rest of his life! 
 
Zedekiah had been given a tremendous opportunity. He missed the throne three times when two of his brothers and then his nephew were crowned. Yet, he finally received stewardship of the kingdom. Zedekiah had seen firsthand the mistakes of his brothers and nephew and had direct messages from God through prophet Jeremiah. Yet he failed to learn and did not submit to the Lord. As a result, Zedekiah lost his sons, his sight, his throne and his freedom.

Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldeans and bands of the Syrians and bands of the Moabites and bands of the Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the LORD, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also for the innocent blood that he had shed. THE FALL OF JUDAH 
 
God is longsuffering. He is neither capricious nor impulsive. As He decreed, Judah had finally fallen to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon.Nebuchadnezzar was not able unless God had allowed him. In fact, It was the LORD who sent bands of the Chaldeans and bands of the Syrians and bands of the Moabites and bands of the Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by his servants the prophets. 
 
Babylon with his allied forces seemed unstoppable. Assyria had been taken apart. And, Egypt was no match who tried to help Judah. Why? For “surely this came upon Judah at the command of the LORD, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done.”[v.3] The judgment of God was inevitable. Babylon had expanded his territories from from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River. [see 1 Kings 4:21, 24; 8:65] Simply said, Babylon had flourished because Judah had backslidden. 
 
Certainly, God was on top of everything. As the psalmist wrote; “Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant of wrath you will put on like a belt.”[Psa 76:10] Should God is sovereign in everything, everything contributes for His glory. His light will pierce through darkness. He could turn a mess into a message or a blight into His beauty. He uses the canvass of darkness and sin to manifest the glory of the cross or the gospel. There is nothing attractive about the manger and cross until Jesus was born and crucified in it, respectively.

In his days, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldeans and bands of the Syrians and bands of the Moabites and bands of the Ammonites, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the LORD, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also for the innocent blood that he had shed. 2 Kings 23:28-30 ESV 
 
Similarly today, many Christians end their lives not in simple sleep but horribly. There are still many countries wherein Christians are persecuted. But, their souls are spared from God’s judgment in hell. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” [Rom 8:1] Thus Jesus has admonished us, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”[Matt 10:28,29] 
 
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 29 In his days Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates. King Josiah went to meet him, and Pharaoh Neco killed him at Megiddo, as soon as he saw him. 30 And his servants carried him dead in a chariot from Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place. 
 
DYING IN PEACE 
 
King Josiah was killed by Pharaoh Neco at Megiddo. 2 Chron 35:20-25 gave us this account, “20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight at Carchemish on the Euphrates, and Josiah went out to meet him. 21 But he sent envoys to him, saying, “What have we to do with each other, king of Judah? I am not coming against you this day, but against the house with which I am at war. And God has commanded me to hurry. Cease opposing God, who is with me, lest he destroy you.” 22 Nevertheless, Josiah did not turn away from him, but disguised himself in order to fight with him. He did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, but came to fight in the plain of Megiddo. 23 And the archers shot King Josiah. And the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am badly wounded.” 24 So his servants took him out of the chariot and carried him in his second chariot and brought him to Jerusalem. And he died and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah. 25 Jeremiah also uttered a lament for Josiah; and all the singing men and singing women have spoken of Josiah in their laments to this day. They made these a rule in Israel; behold, they are written in the Laments.” 
 
But, did not God promise he would die in peace? The prophetess Huldah said earlier, “ Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all the disaster that I will bring upon this place.’[2 Kings 22:20] 
 
Clearly, it was not referring to the manner of his death. It was the timing. He would die and be buried peacefully before the terrible events would happened. As Huldah prophesied, “Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will bring disaster upon this place and upon its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read. 17 Because they have forsaken me and have made offerings to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath will be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.”[2 Kings 22:15-17]

THE PASSOVER RESTORED 
 
By celebrating the Passover, Josiah’s spiritual reforms was far reaching than Hezekiah and others before him. No passover celebration was made since the days of the judges. He should be commended for eradicating everything associated with pagan worship. But, this celebration of the Passover was the highlight of his reforms. Similarly, we should not be noted by what we remove in our lives but by what we do in obedience to his words. 
 
How significant is the Passover celebration? The celebration of Passover is in remembrance of the time in Israel’s history when the Lord moved through Egypt destroying the firstborn of all people and animals (see Exodus 11 and 12.) This was the final of the ten plagues God visited upon Egypt designed to force Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave the country and their captivity. The Israelites were commanded by God to take the blood of a male lamb—one without blemish—and smear it on the doorposts of their houses. When the Lord saw the blood, He would “pass over” that house. Ever since that night, Jews have celebrated the Passover in remembrance of God’s grace to them.[from gotquestions.org] 
 
This is a foreshadowing of the spotless Lamb of God, Jesus, whose blood would cover the sins of those who believe in Him, causing God’s judgment to pass over them. The Passover is a wonderful picture of Christ’s atonement for His people and His deliverance of us from the bondage of sin Thus, Paul writes, “For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” [1 Cor 5:7] 
 
While it is not required for Christians to celebrate the Passover, it is beneficial to study and reflect it for it leads to a greater understanding and appreciation for Christ’s death and resurrection. That is something we should celebrate every day of our lives. 
 
Under the New Covenant, we are enjoined to celebrate instead the Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. Paul had emphasized this observance by saying, “For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.”[1 Cor 11:23-26]

He also burned the Asherah. 16 And as Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the mount. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar and defiled it, according to the word of the LORD that the man of God proclaimed, who had predicted these things. 17 Then he said, “What is that monument that I see?” And the men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and predicted these things that you have done against the altar at Bethel.” 18 And he said, “Let him be; let no man move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria. 19 And Josiah removed all the shrines also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which kings of Israel had made, provoking the LORD to anger. He did to them according to all that he had done at Bethel. 20 And he sacrificed all the priests of the high places who were there, on the altars, and burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem. 
 
WHAT IS THAT MONUMENT THAT I SEE? 
 
In his cleansing campaign in Samaria, King Josiah was determined to destroy every pagan edifice, including tombs. He took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar and defiled it, according to the word of the LORD that the man of God proclaimed, who had predicted these things 
 
But he saw a tomb and asked, “What is that monument that I see?” What prompted him to ask is not clear. Clearly, he was careful to destroy shrines which were verified. Interestingly, the men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and predicted these things that you have done against the altar at Bethel.” He had died many years earlier, yet the specific king he mentioned, Josiah, came to fulfill his words. His words were recorded in 1 Kings 13:1-2, “And behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make offerings. 2 And the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name, and he shall sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who make offerings on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.” Was this a coincidence? 
 
King Josiah was quick to honor him, saying, “Let him be; let no man move his bones.” He was an obscure prophet but having a popular message. Apparently, people did not remember his name but his words had lingered in their minds. He died but his words lives. Similarly, it doesn’t matter whether people will remember our names as long as they won’t forget the message we bring – the gospel. 
 
Are we passionate to elevate the name of Christ alone? As Paul had declared for himself, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” [1 Cor 2:2] Sadly, today’s norm is when a popular preacher said it that makes it worth considering, is it not? May we be like John the baptizer, the greatest prophet [Luke 7:26-28] who said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”[John 3:30]

He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel. 5 And he deposed the priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to make offerings in the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and the moon and the constellations and all the host of the heavens. 6 And he brought out the Asherah from the house of the LORD, outside Jerusalem, to the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron and beat it to dust and cast the dust of it upon the graves of the common people. 7 And he broke down the houses of the male cult prostitutes who were in the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the Asherah. 8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had made offerings, from Geba to Beersheba. THE CLEANSING 
 
This narrative shows how deep Judah had plunged deeply in idolatry. There were idols dedicated to Baal, to Asherah, and to all the host of heaven in the very temple itself. From this account, it seems that King Josiah began the cleansing reforms at the center and moving outwards. Should we eradicate a weed, we should uproot it not just cut the branches, should we not? 
 
He destroyed completely all the abominable things; all the vessels made for Baal, Asherah and the hosts of heaven were burned; image of Asherah was burned; broke down the house of the male cult prostitutes; broke down the high places of the gates; he defiled Tophet [ altar where sacred rites for Molech was done, by Clarke] 
 
Josiah’s cleansing also involved removing idolatrous priests, and all those responsible for these sinful practices.

HUMILITY LEADS TO HONOR 
 
Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah. She was the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter). And they consulted with her about the dealings of God concerning the king and the people. 
 
Amazingly, she said about King Josiah, “Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the Lord. Now I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place and on those who live here” (2 Chron 34:27–28). God’s pronouncement of judgment to the wicked kings before Josiah was consitent. King Josiah was the exception. He was a godly king who humbled himself before God. 
 
Solomon had said, “Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.” [Prov 18:12]. He added, “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.”[Prov 22:4] This principle holds true in Jesus teaching. He said, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”[Matt 23:12] For this, Peter wrote, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you”[1 Pet 5:5,6] 
 
The whole kingdom was spared because of the God-fearing king Josiah. Indeed, “The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.”[Prov 15:33] Leadership rises and falls because of their attitude of humility and pride, respectively. Thus, we must not allow pride to creep in and ruin us. May by His Spirit, we will remain humble so that we will receive His exaltation in return.

2 Kings 21:19-26 ESV 
 
19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. 20 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. 21 He walked in all the way in which his father walked and served the idols that his father served and worshiped them. 22 He abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD. 23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him and put the king to death in his house. 24 But the people of the land struck down all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place. 25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza, and Josiah his son reigned in his place.

HE ABANDONED THE LORD 
 
Undoubtedly, Mannaseh was the most evil king of Judah. He was comparable to King Ahab of the Northern kingdom. After him Amon his son reigned, who was no different but f. He abandoned the Lord, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the Lord.[v.22] He ended his two year reign tragically because his servants conspired against him and put the king to death in his house. His killers were killed as well by the people of the land. He punctuated his kingdom with much killings. 
 
We are not told why he was assassinated by his own servants. Certainly, their act demonstrated their disloyalty to him. He wasn’t able to get their trust either because either they were provoked to anger because they were oppressed or they were driven by jealousy to usurp his power. Indeed, he who abandoned the Lord may live an abhorrent or abusive life. That is, he didn’t know how to relate with others – to his equals or subordinates. 
 
Conversely, he, who in his heart, is pursuing God would display the compassion of God. The temperature of somebody would rise if he is close to the furnace, would it not? The reason why leaders have had problems with people is that their hearts are far from God. About this ‘cause and effect’ reality, John has something to say, “If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.”[1 John 4:20-21] 
 
Everything in us rises and falls with our relationship with God. Thus today, let’s take care first and foremost our relationship with God. When our hearts has been in the warmth of God’s presence, we would relate warmly others. The reason is not necessarily that people are lovable, for they’re not. It is because the love of God has contrained us.

2 Kings 20:12-19 ESv 
12 At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick. 13 And Hezekiah welcomed them, and he showed them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his armory, all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them. 14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? And from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, from Babylon.” 15 He said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them.” 
 
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD: 17 Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the LORD. 18 And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” 19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the LORD that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?” 
 
SHOWING OFF 
 
When the Babylonian emissary came to Judah, Hezekiah showed everything he has had. They had seen all that is inside his house; there was nothing in his storehouses that he did not show them 
 
Did Hezekiah sin in this matter? Plainly, yes. God shouldn’t pronounce judgment on him in response if he had not displeased God. But what was his sin about? What should he had done instead? Surely, it wasn’t sin to receive the Babylonians. It was in his haughty manner in which he received them. 
 
It seemed to us that “showing off” his goodies got Babylon so interested to get them later. He miscalculated by thinking and trusting about them as his friends, instead as opposed to him. That, he referred Babylon as a possible caretaker of Israel's things. We wonder whether it was a good military strategy. Would you show your enemies, or even distant friends, your fortifications. Or your desirables? God will judge him so that they will become captive to Babylon later. And, for him “The word of the LORD that Isaiah have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?” (v.19) this shows his self-centeredness. 
 
Did Hezekiah's lackadaisical attitude towards God was responsible for raising Manasseh to be so evil? “And the Lord said by his servants the prophets, “Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations and has done things more evil than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols, therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such disaster that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.”[2 Kings 21:10-12] 
 
Past successes are not guarrantee for the future. It doen’t always follow that if we start well. Success may blind our eyes to make us conceited or proud.

2 Kings 20:8-11 ESV 
8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the LORD on the third day?” 9 And Isaiah said, “This shall be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?” 10 And Hezekiah answered, “It is an easy thing for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. Rather let the shadow go back ten steps.” 11 And Isaiah the prophet called to the LORD, and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which it had gone down on the steps of Ahaz.

8 Sinabi ni Hezekias kay Isaias, “Ano ang magiging tanda na ako'y pagagalingin ng PANGINOON, at ako'y aakyat sa bahay ng PANGINOON sa ikatlong araw?” 9 At sinabi ni Isaias, “Ito ang tanda sa iyo mula sa PANGINOON, na gagawin ng PANGINOON ang bagay na kanyang ipinangako: susulong ba ang anino ng sampung hakbang, o babalik ng sampung hakbang?” 10 Sumagot si Hezekias, “Isang madaling bagay sa anino na pasulungin ng sampung hakbang; sa halip, pabalikin ang anino ng sampung hakbang.” 11 Si Isaias na propeta ay nanalangin sa PANGINOON; at kanyang pinabalik ang anino ng sampung hakbang, na nakababa na sa orasang-araw ni Ahaz. 
 
THE SIGN 
 
As soon as Hezekiah heard Isaiah’s words, he asked him what would be the sign that God would fulfill His words. “That the shadow of the sun dial will either turn either ten degrees forward or backward”, Isaiah replied. Hezekiah thought the shadow going backward was much harder than going forward. Thus, he asked God to do it. How many times we are like Hezekiah when God’s promise is too hard to believe? Is it wrong or not, to ask for a sign from God? The answer is yes and no. 
 
It’s a 'no' when we are like the ‘Jews who sought for a sign’, when the truth was very apparent to them. Jesus did most of his miracles at Galillee towns area, yet they refused to believe Him. Thus Jesus said, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”[Matt 11:21-24] In short, their problem was not that thay could not believe but that they would not believe amidst clear evidences. That is why Paul said about his fundamental problem of the Jews, that is, they sought for a sign. Definitely, its hard to accept God’s will when you have already decided what you want Him to say.” 
 
However, it's a 'yes', when in his sincerity, one would clear his doubts, like Hezekiah and Gideon. Apparently, God saw their hearts’ truthfulness so that He granted their requests. Only God could see our motives. The fact that God had affirmatively answered their asking for a sign should settle our suspicions or doubts whether their motives were right or not. Thus, we shouldn’t question their trust to God’s character and trustworthiness. 
 
When the bible is clear about a subject, we should not seek for a sign. However, when our degree of certainty is not so clear, we may seek God to confirm it through our circumstances. But, we should be earnest to obey whenever we ask an impossible thing from God, should we not? Our example is Hannah. When she was barren, she asked specifically for a son in order to be offered to God. God granted her request. And , she did it accordingly without delay.

2 Kings 20:1-7 ESV 
 
In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die; you shall not recover.’” 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying, 3 “Now, O LORD, please remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4 And before Isaiah had gone out of the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him: 5 “Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD, 6 and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David's sake.” 7 And Isaiah said, “Bring a cake of figs. And let them take and lay it on the boil, that he may recover.”

Sa ikatlong araw ay aakyat ka sa bahay ng PANGINOON. 6 Dadagdagan ko ng labinlimang taon ang iyong buhay. Ililigtas ko ikaw at ang lunsod na ito sa kamay ng hari ng Asiria at aking ipagtatanggol ang lunsod na ito alang-alang sa akin at sa aking lingkod na si David.” 7 At sinabi ni Isaias, “Magdala kayo ng binilong igos at itapal ito sa bukol upang siya'y gumaling.” 
 
 
I HAVE SEEN YOUR TEARS. 
 
Having been sick, King Hezekiah was told by Isaiah, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die; you shall not recover.’” It was a death sentence but he refused to accept. He turned his face towards the wall and prayed. Broken, he literally wept and begged for God to grant His mercy. He has been faithful in following the Lord yet God had allowed him to get sick. Sickness may happen to everyone. 
 
The Lord changed His dealings with Hezekiah. Thus, He told Isaiah, who was leaving the room, to turn back and pronounce, “Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD, and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David's sake.” Sometimes god answers prayer quickly but in many cases we have to travail. 
 
Prayer changes us not God. God is immutable. As God heard hezekiah, He heard the prayer of Moses also so that He relented His dealings with the stiff-necked Israel. “And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”[Ex 33:17] 
 
The Lord heard and healed Hezekiah. The Lord had extended his life for another 15 years. Today, are we like him, desperate enough to be driven on our knees? Do we recognize that we are doomed if not for God’s grace and mercy? In many instances, we think we can survive with a little help from God. Help from Him is seen as optional. That, it is okay whether God will help us or not. Are we so desperate that if God is not in our home, work and ministry, we are doomed to failure? It is not us plus God. But, it is all of God or nothing.

2 Kings 19:29-31 ESV 
 
29 “And this shall be the sign for you: this year eat what grows of itself, and in the second year what springs of the same. Then in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. 30 And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 31 For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD will do this. 
 
29 “At ito ang magiging tanda para sa iyo: sa taong ito ikaw ay kakain ng tumutubo sa kanyang sarili, at sa ikalawang taon ay ang tumubo roon; at sa ikatlong taon ay maghahasik kayo, at aani, at magtatanim ng ubasan, at kakainin ninyo ang kanilang bunga. 30 Ang naiwang ligtas sa sambahayan ni Juda ay muling mag-uugat pailalim at magbubunga pataas; 31 sapagkat mula sa Jerusalem ay lalabas ang isang nalabi, at sa bundok ng Zion ay isang pangkat ng naiwan. Ang sigasig ng PANGINOON ang gagawa nito. 
 
THE REMNANT SHALL BLOSSOM 
 
In the aftermath of the soon Assyrian invasion, the kingdom may experience hardships. Life will be bleak. Their will be tightening of the belt for food production would be reduced. But, they should not be in despair. 
 
They just to endure the first two years when there would be fragility of both human and economic conditions. But, they will survive. Why? The crops will spring up from what is already in the ground. Specifically, in the third year, it would be possible for them to resume their normal agricultural practices. “For you need patience that after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.”[Heb 10:36] 
 
There is a lot of optimism in God, who is sovereign. As the psalmist articulated; 
“Those who sow in tears 
shall reap with shouts of joy! 
He who goes out weeping, 
bearing the seed for sowing, 
shall come home with shouts of joy, 
bringing his sheaves with him.”[Psa 126:5,6] 
 
Armed with the sure promises of God, let us be faithful in active and productive waiting for God to fulfill His promises. God’s growth might be slow but it is sure. As Paul had admonished us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”[Gal 6:9] “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”[1 Cor 15:58]
