As Believers we sometimes find ourselves struggling with circumstances and situations and being overcome and overwhelmed and experiencing defeat in our lives. Could it be because of a Power Shortage in our lives? 
 
At one point the diciples were give ALL power and ALL authority over devils and to cure diseases... 
Luke 9:1-2 
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 
 
But for a very interesting reason, the POWER and AUTHORITY they one had, they completely lost. Why? Find out in today's message the dangers that erode your power and authrotiy as a Believer in Jesus Christ.

It’s all because our focus is wrong. When you pray, you need to glance at your problem and gaze on Jesus.

How to Pray for Friends, Ephesians 3:11-21

Today's message is our Fifth in our Prayer Series of Six: “When We Say "Father!”, taken from Matthew 6:5-15. 
 
So far we’ve looked at 1. Fasting and Prayer, 2. It's Time for America to Pray, 3. Mighty Prayer, and now today, 4. When We Say Father. We will finish up this series next week Lord willing with our last title, 5. "How to Pray for Friends and Influence People from Ephesians 3:11-21. You won't want to miss any of these powerful life-changing messages that will help you to answer many questions you may have been asking through the years about why God doesn't seemingly answer your prayers. Especially the urgent, desperate ones. 
 
So today we will be looking at several verses and begin with verse 9 in Matthew Chapter 6 - 9 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." 
 
This is a very important lesson in prayer from the Master Prayer, our Lord Jesus Christ, Himself. Did you know that many people call this The Lord's Prayer, but in all actuality it is not. The Lord's Prayer is found over in John's Gospel, Chapter 17. 
 
Jesus entered in this this discussion because the were having trouble getting results in their prayer life - they had no power and couldn't cast out a 'buck private demon' even after Jesus gave them all authority to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons. But they had failed. So now they ask Jesus how THEY should prayer to the Father to be renewed with the power Jesus had promised. 
 
It is important to note that Jesus didn’t give us this prayer so we would simply rattle it off or to pray it like a mantra. He also didn’t say “Pray this (exact) prayer.” He said, “After this manner...pray ye” - pray this way. This is to be a guide, a lesson in prayer. And it begins with these words, “Our Father.” 
 
So what does it mean that we can come to God in prayer and call Him our Father? There are a lot of awesome things we will learn about our Lord's Nature in this passage. Can We Expect His Nurture and Care for Us, Will He Protect You? What About Power?. Will He, like our earthly fathers did - will He completely Forgive and Pardon us for all sins and wrongdoings? 
 
You will learn about God's relationship to you and I, and about His duties to you and I, His Promised Provision, Companionship, and yes - even His righteous Correction and Discipline in the lives of Believers...after all, He IS your Father!

Here in Jeremiah 33:3 is one of the sweetest invitations to prayer you will ever find. And with it comes one amazing promise. 
Many times we find ourselves going through dark and difficult times that we don't understand and we ask God, "Why?" Such questions are not a revelation of a lack of faith, but it is hypocrisy to pretend that we have accepted God's ways and are walking in complete submission to Him when actually we are having questions deep inside. I believe that God wants us to be completely honest with Him above everything else. And this is His promise to us: 
Jeremiah 33:3 
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. 
 
Do you want prayers answered and to know the Lord hears you when you pray? We've been given an invitation to call on God. Most of us can't pick up the phone and call the big shots in government and business and entertainment, but there's not a one of us who can't contact Heaven. 
 God has Commanded us to pray, so failure to pray is a Sin. 
 God has Invited us to pray, so failure to pray is an Insult. 
 God has Privileged us to pray, so failure to pray is Folly.

Prayer Series #2; It's Prayer Time in America 
It is too late for America? Have we reached the point of no return? I submit that we have not. There is yet hope for America. But America must turn to God or she will die. Now we know some Christians believe it is prophesied in the Bible for Judgment to come to America for the wickedness and many sins of the people, that there is nothing we can do. But first of all, as Christians, we are commanded to PRAY so it is not an option. And we are to pray for all men everywhere at all times. Praying in light of the possibility that things may NOT turn out or that they MAY turn around, goes to the evidence and proof of our sincere faith in Him...that we trust the Lord no matter what the outcome and believe that He alone has the power to change the course of Human Events at His will. And even if things don't turn around like we would hope and desire, we as God's children need to all go down on record "fighting the good fight of faith" until the very end or until God calls us home or we go up in the Rapture! So whether we are rewarded with a stay of judgment for our own lives, the lives of our family, church, friends, or for our Country, or whether punishment and judgment are inevitable, we still need to pray and thus show an unbelieving world what our complete faith and trust is in. It is not in chariots or horses or weapons, silver or gold. It is only in the Person of Jesus Christ. 
 
And though He has the highest standards and principles by which we must before Him, He has made allowance and provision for us to come boldly to the throne of grace in the time of need...when He sees the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, covering us (as the Holy Spirit applies it to our hearts) because we have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, and we come to Him with a broken and contrite Heart, He promises to hear us; then if we turn from our sinful and wicked ways and seek His face (seek His answers and learn the ways He would do things) then He promises He will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins and will Heal our land. Now isn't that worth the effort to come to God on His terms if the yield would be so incredible? I don't know about you, but I'm taking Him up on that and taking Him at His Word. 16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 
 
Our Lord expects us to fast, just as He expects us to pray. 
So what do we mean by Fasting? Fasting means going without food or drink or certain pleasures for a Spiritual purpose. It's not just skipping meals but seeking God. And what motivates fasting? I believe real fasting is for ministry. But there are other reasons as well. Fasting strengthens your Prayer Life and your Faith; it Increases your Fervency in Prayer; it Subdues "SELF"; it brings Wisdom; and most importantly It Holds Back the Judgment of God in your life. When we contend with his majesty the Devil, the Prince of Darkness, that sinister minister of evil, we can't be flippant or careless. We must understand exactly who he is. You deal with the Devil everyday - whether you realize it or not. If you don't deal directly with him, you battle his demons, his emissaries. And either the Devil is charming and controlling you or else you are gaining victory over him. But you are not immune from his attacks, for the very Son of God wasn't immune. 
 
We will look at The Danger of Passivity - doing nothing in this fight; The Danger of Pride - how it plays a negative role in this fight; The Danger of Presumption - believing that the Devil has been so incapacitated by the Cross that we simply steamroll over him; and The Danger of Pessimism - fearing that Satan may win or that things are going to get so terrible that everything is lost with no remedy in sight.

God searches for men in Salvation (Luke 19:10) and in Service (Ezekiel 22:30). He seeks men that are distinctively different in their walk and testimony, and courageously bold in their message and demeanor. This sought after man is marked by his character and relationship with God. 
 
Becoming the kind of Man that God would highly favor - this seems like an impossible task, doesn't it? But there is a 'trick' to it. You cannot do this in your own power or on your own merit. The LORD God is there to help us succeed when we know ourselves that it would otherwise be impossible to do.
