As we continue to look at the communion we have with the Holy Spirit, we see how He anoints us and leads us into all truth. 
We see two things: 
*First, what this anointing is: an equipping for service. 
*Second, how this anointing does equip us for service. 
 
We are encouraged to seek after God for more of this work of the Spirit in our hearts. If we do not have it at all, it is because we are not true believers and we need to come to Christ for salvation and the outpouring of His Spirit in our hearts.

We consider a further step in redemptive history: how the Lord unveiled and further explained several mysteries that had been hidden for long ages with the completion of Christ's work and the outpouring of the Spirit. We look at two things: 
 
* What the truths were in these mysteries that He revealed, and 
* When He revealed them. 
 
Believers are reminded that they do not yet know as much as they can or should, and are encouraged to press on to understand more through the revelation God has given them in His Word. Unbelievers are reminded that the truth is still veiled to them, and are urged to come to Christ that their eyes might be opened to see Him and to receive Him as their Savior.

Continuing our series on walking with God, we consider how to walk with God when we are alone. We consider four things: 
 
* It is better to walk with God in company than to be alone 
* We should not want to be alone more than we need to because then we are particularly vulnerable to Satan's attacks 
* We should particularly be careful to guard our minds since that is an area in which we are always alone, and 
* The best defense against Satan's attacks and the best way to please God when we are alone is always to be positively engaged in doing something good and useful in our actions, minds and hearts. 
 
We are reminded that as Christians, we are never really alone, since God is with us in whatever we do. Therefore, we are charged to have the Lord's spiritual armor on at all times, to be on our guard, and to keep our eyes open for Satan's attacks.

As we begin the New Year, we review the law of cause and effect: what you sow, you will reap. Though this principle is commonly applied to life in a negative way, it can be applied in very positive ways as well: if you sow good things, you will reap useful benefits. We see:

*Second, Paul's application of this principle to us more particularly in our spiritual life: if you sow to the flesh, you will reap corruption and death, but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap love and eternal life.

We consider that Jesus' message was preached to those who were brokenhearted and mourning over their sin, who realized that they were slaves to it and to Satan. To such people, Jesus proclaimed healing, comfort, liberty, and hope (through His life of perfect obedience and death upon the cross); and in doing so demonstrated that He is the Messiah. All are urged to accept Jesus' testimony of Himself and come to Him as the only Savior from sin.

*That the Lord used this event to cure His people once and for all from their idolatry -- which was the cause of the exile. 
*That the Lord removed what was left of the glory of the Old Covenant to make way for the glory of the New. 
*That by removing His people from the Land and dispersing them throughout the world, He prepared not only His people, but also the nations to receive the Gospel. 
 
Everything the Lord does has a purpose, and He is even able to use the sins of His people and the judgment He brings on them to forward His righteous plans.
