The principle behind determining what is heresy - when human reasoning thumps divine revelation. Once we determine it as heresy, we are to confront it, and in the end separate from it. Is Pentecostalism and it's step children (ecumenicalism, charismatic renewal, non-cessationism) heresy?  When considering their doctrine of salvation, of sanctification, and their method in worship and evangelism,  the conclusion is strait warded - heresy. Pentecostalism heresy? 1 Cor. 11:18-19

Once we determine what is heresy, and who are the heretics, than the Biblical action is to separate. What principal is to be used to determine heresy? Should we look back at what the early evangelical church condemned as heresy, and do likewise? What about the action of the Fundamentalist controversy in condemning Liberalism as heresy? Principal to apply to determine what is and what is not heresy - when human reason trumps divine revelation. What is heresy?  (part 1) 1 Cor.11:18-19

Does baptism save? Does it matter if I get baptized? Is a local church in Christ the only assembly that can baptize? Is baptism by immersion the only true biblical method and mode? I  could imagine the many more questions concerning this blessed ordinance. Hopefully by watching this video, some of those questions will be answered. Before the fall of mankind in Adam in the garden of Eden, God in His creative acts instituted gender, marriage, and family for the human race. The entrance of sin brought disorder to each of these divine instituted blessings. Redemption in Christ brings back this order, first of all, in salvation - Christ is our Head, our Lord, our authority. Whether male or female Christ is our Head. Redemption also restores order in service. As we serve as "unto the Lord" gender roles and distinctions are not a case for inferiority, but a platform so we can lovingly submit to our respective heads. Our Christian culture - 1 Cor. 7:36-38

It seems in the church of Corinth, everybody wants to be single. So a dad and his daughter decide that would be the way to go for her - single!  But what if as the daughter comes of age - matures, she finds out she does not have the grace and gift of singleness - (v.7). What is the father to do? Why does the father have to decide? 1 Cor. 3:13-15 inspection time

There is only one Foundation that the church is to be built upon - the Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only is the Lord the chief corner stone, He is also a "stone of stumbling and a rock of offense". In order to be saved, the elect sinner must trip over the "stone of stumbling" and be broken. Such a breaking is necessary in order that the "world's/carnal peace" will be shattered. Often we think it is not God that has moved, but we have moved away from God because of our sin. In Hosea, God breaks fellowship with His people. Until they repent and turn away from their sin to God, He is not fellowshipping with them. "In their affliction they shall seek me early...". Hosea 5:15

When this Canaanite women came to the Lord Jesus in her need, the Lord Jesus would not have anything to do with her. He was on a mission to the "lost sheep of the house of Israel". The Gospel message up to that point was "repent for the kingdom of God is at hand" - and that in the person of the King. The gospel of the Cross was yet future, waiting the acceptance or rejection of the King by the nation of Israel, but here and there the Lord ministers to a non-Israelite. Is Jeremiah 8:20 an expression of Israel's fading hope or a cruel accusation against God? In order to  understand the eight chapter of Jeremiah, certain verses must be considered. They are verses - 15,19,22. as we consider the verses mentioned, the word expectations comes to mind. In three areas we see Israel's, Jeremiah's expectations - be unfulfilled, failed, and extinguished. God corrects Israel in her expectations first of all by declaring up front it is not His fault such is the case, but because of their sins judgment was coming. Apply to this in our day in Canada!<br />

"The harvest is past...." Jer. 8:20

Chapter 24 of Genesis deals with the preparation, the procurement, the pursuing of Rebekah in order that she would come with the servant back to where Isaac was. A happy ending does not just happen! God providential and covenantal will is the foundation upon which Abraham seeks a wife for his son. What part does Isaac have in this rearranged marriage? See Isaac at the well of Lahairoi, praying, waiting on the Lord for His will to be accomplished. The place of comfort for Isaac and all others that seek marriage God's way, and for God's honour. The incarnation of Christ was so that He would become our Kinsman Redeemer. As our Kinsman Redeemer, our Lord came to redeem us that we "might receive the adoptions of sons". Adoption is not justification, nor is it sanctification, so what benefit is it? How does this doctrine, this blessing play in our salvation? Galatians 4:5-6 the benefits of adoption

Abraham is now considering what he should do in preparation to finding a wife for his son Isaac. Abraham charges his servant to allow Isaac to  marry a Canaanite woman, nor his Isaac allowed to travel back to where Abraham once lived to find a wife. The servant will go for him. Preparation is important for many things in life - marriage, old age, death, etc. Are you prepared to meet God? Are you preparing for the future? Is that wrong?
