Listen to me, oh Lord; hear what my accusers are saying! (Jeremiah 18:19). Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember that I stood before you and spoke on their behalf to turn your wrath away from them (Jeremiah 18:20). So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives be made childless and widows; let their men be put to death, their young men slain by the sword in battle (Jeremiah 18:21). Let a cry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring invaders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet (Jeremiah 18:22). In the Book of Ezekiel we read in chapter 3 that God tells Ezekiel He has made him a watchman for the house of Israel, and to tell the people about sin. Ezekiel was living in exile in Babylon around the time of the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC. 
The word of the Lord came to Ezekiel (Ezekiel 3:16). “I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel, so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me” (Ezekiel 3:17). “When I say to a wicked man ‘You will surely die’ and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood” (Ezekiel 3:18). “But if you do warn the wicked him and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself” (Ezekiel 3:19). “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood” (Ezekiel 3:20). “But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took the warning, and you will have saved yourself” (Ezekiel 3:21). 
Thought for today: no-one is more secure than those in God’s hands.

Paul said to the people in the Council: “Since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold, or silver or stone - an image made by man’s design and skill” (Acts 17:29). “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). “For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17:31). When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said “We want to hear you again on this subject” (Acts 17:32). At that, Paul left the Council (Acts 17:33) A few men became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others (Acts 17:34). 
Thought for today: now is the time to invest in heaven.

Some reflect worshipping God, while others are prayers and hymns calling for help, protection, forgiveness, salvation and songs of thanksgiving. The song “I Will Remember” comes from Psalm 77. 
Since the beginning, God has shown His love, compassion and faithfulness to those who trust and follow His one and only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. No matter where we look, or where we go, we can see the abundance of God’s love for us. Psalm 77 tells of His mighty power and how He led His people to safety through the sea by holding back the waters. 
I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago (Psalm 77:11). I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds (Psalm 77:12). Your ways, oh God, are Holy. What god is so great as our God? (Psalm 77:13). You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples (Psalm 77:14). With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph (Psalm 77:15). The waters saw you, oh God (Psalm 77:16). The skies resounded with thunder (Psalm 77:17). Your lightning lit up the world (Psalm 77:18). Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen (Psalm 77:19). You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron (Psalm 77:20). 
Thought for today: no-one is more secure than those in God’s hands.

#1983.1- I Will Remember - (Psalm 77:11-20)

Song # 1972.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. We read in the Book of Acts in chapter 18 that Paul remained in Corinth for a year and a half after God told him in a vision that he would come to no harm from the people in the city. 
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision “Do not be afraid, keep on speaking, do not be silent” (Acts 18:9). “For I am with you, and no-one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city” (Acts 18:10). So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God (Acts 18:11). While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him into the court (Acts 18:12). “This man” they charged “is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law” (Acts 18:13). Just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio said to the Jews “If you Jews were making a complaint about some misdemeanour or serious crime, it would be reasonable for me to listen to you” (Acts 18:14). “But since it involves questions about words and names and your own law - settle the matter yourselves. I will not be a judge of such things” (Acts 18:15). So he had them ejected from the court (Acts 18:16). Then they all turned on Sosthenes the synagogue ruler and beat him in front of the court. But Gallio showed no concern whatever (Acts 18:17). 
Thought for today: thank God for what you have, trust God for what you need.

Paul left Athens and went to Corinth (Acts 18:1). There he met a Jew names Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them (Acts 18:2), and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them (Acts 18:3). Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks (Acts 18:4). When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ (Acts 18:5). But when the Jews opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clear of my responsibility. From now on I will go to the Gentiles” (Acts 18:6). Then Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titius Justus, a worshipper of God (Acts 18:7). Crispus, the synagogue ruler, and his entire household believed in the Lord, and many Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptised (Acts 18:8). 
Thought for today: your love for God can change the world, but don’t let the world change your love for God. 
Thought for the future: Jesus holds the key to eternal life, let him unlock your heart and be with Him forever. Where will you spend your eternity?

They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews (Acts 18:19). When they asked him to spend more time with them, he declined (Acts 18:20). But as he left, he promised “I will come back if it is God’s will.” Then he set sail from Ephesus (Acts 18:21). When Paul landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the Church and then went down to Antioch (Acts 18:22). After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and travelled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples (Acts 18:23). 
Thought for today: a gentle word of encouragement can carry great weight. 
Thought for the future: we can please our God through following His ways and praising Him. Where will you spend your eternity?

He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervour and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John (Acts 18:25). This is what the Lord says “Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand, and my righteousness will soon be revealed” (Isaiah 56:1). “Blessed is the man who does this, the man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil” (Isaiah 56:2). Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the Lord say “The Lord will surely exclude me from His people.” And let no eunuch complain “I am only a dry tree” (Isaiah 56:3). For this is what the Lord says: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases me and hold fast to my covenant” (Isaiah 56:4), “to them I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off” (Isaiah 56:5). “And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to serve Him, to love the name of the Lord, and to worship Him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant” (Isaiah 56:6), “these I will bring to my Holy Mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7). The Sovereign Lord declares - He who gathers the exiles of Israel: “I will gather still others to them besides those already gathered” (Isaiah 56:8). 
Thought for today: you have all you need in life, when you have God in your life. 
Thought for the future: when Jesus returns, it will be heaven for those who trust in Him. Where will you spend your eternity?

Song # 1033.2 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. You have probably heard the expression “the Good Samaritan” from time to time. Luke tells us in chapter 10 that Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan. 
On one occasion an expert in the Law stood up to test Jesus “Teacher” he asked “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 10:25). “What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied “How do you read it?” (Luke 10:26). The man answered “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27). “You have answered correctly” Jesus replied “Do this and you will live” (Luke 10:28). But the man wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus “And who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29). In reply Jesus told this parable “A man was going from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half-dead” (Luke 10:30). “A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side” (Luke 10:31). “So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side” (Luke 10:32). “But a Samaritan, as he travelled , came where the man was, and when he saw him, took pity on him” (Luke 10:33). “He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him” (Luke 10:34). “The next day he took out two silver coins, and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him’ he said ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have’” (Luke 10:35). Then Jesus said “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” (Luke 10:36). The expert in the law replied “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37). 
Thought for today: to show you love God, share your love with others and help those in need

But now a righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been made known, to which the law and the prophets testify (Romans 3:21). This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference (Romans 3:22), for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24). God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice (Romans 3:25), so as to be just and the One who justifies those who have faith in Jesus (Romans 3:26). Is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too (Romans 3:29).

Supreme Council and Court in ancient Jerusalem. Sadducees do not believe in resurrection, Angels or spirits while the Pharisees do believe in these things. 
After the commander found out that Paul was a Roman citizen (Acts 22:29), he wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews, he released him and ordered all the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them (Acts 22:30). Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day” (Acts 23:1). At this, the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth (Acts 23:2). Then Paul said to him “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall!” You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!” (Acts 23:3). Those who were standing near Paul said “You dare to insult God’s high priest?” (Acts 23:4). Paul replied “Brothers, I did not realise that he was the high priest; for it is written ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people’” (Acts 23:5). Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin “My brothers, I am a Pharisee. I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead” (Acts 23:6). When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided (Acts 23:7). The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither Angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all (Acts 23:8). There was great uproar and some of the Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously “We find nothing wrong with this man.” they said. “What if a spirit or an Angel has spoken to him?” (Acts 23:9). The dispute became so violent that the commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He ordered the troops to go down and take Paul away from them by force and bring him into the barracks (Acts 23:10). 
Thought for today: God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people.

After Jesus was arrested, He was taken to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled (Matthew 26:57). Peter followed Him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. Peter entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome (Matthew 26:58). 
Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee” she said (Matthew 26:69). But Peter denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” he said (Matthew 26:70). Then Peter went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth” (Matthew 26:71). Peter denied it a second time, with an oath “I don’t know the man!” (Matthew 26:72). After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said “Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away” (Matthew 26:73). Then Peter began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them “I don’t know the man!” Immediately, a rooster crowed (Matthew 26:74). Then Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And Peter went outside and wept bitterly (Matthew 26:75). 
Thought for today: if God seems distant, guess who moved.
