In the Book of Revelation we read in chapter 1 about the seven stars and the seven lampstands, representing the seven Angels of the Churches, and the seven Churches. The seven Churches were at: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. 
John turned around to the voice that was speaking to him, and he saw seven golden lampstands (Revelation 1:12), and among the lampstands was someone ‘like the Son of Man’, dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet and with a golden sash around His chest (Revelation 1:13). His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire (Revelation 1:14). His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters (Revelation 1:15). In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance (Revelation 1:16). When John saw Him, he fell at His feet as though dead. Then the Lord placed His right hand on John and said “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last (Revelation 1:17). I am the Living One, I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1:18). “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later” (Revelation 1:19). “The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven lampstands is this. Song # 1632.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In the Book of Deuteronomy we read in chapter 32 from the Song of Moses where he tells us that there is no other true God but our living God in heaven. 
The Lord will judge His people and have compassion on His servants. When He sees their strength is gone and no-one is left, slave or free (Deuteronomy 32:36). He will say “Now where are their gods, the rock they took refuge in” (Deuteronomy 32:37). “The gods who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings. Let them rise up to help you! Let them give you shelter!” (Deuteronomy 32:38). “See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no-one can deliver out of my hand” (Deuteronomy 32:39). “I lift my hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live for ever” (Deuteronomy 32:40), “when I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand grasps it in judgement, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me” (Deuteronomy 32:41). “I will make my arrows drunk with blood, while my sword devours flesh, the blood of the slain and the captives, the heads of the enemy leaders” (Deuteronomy 32:42). #1632.1- No Other God - (Deuteronomy 32:36-43)

Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land (Deuteronomy 29:2). With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders (Deuteronomy 29:3). But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear (Deuteronomy 29:4). During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet (Deuteronomy 29:5). You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 29:6). When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them (Deuteronomy 29:7). We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe Manasseh (Deuteronomy 29:8). Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do (Deuteronomy 29:9). #1638.1- Renewal Of The Covenant -  (Deuteronomy 29:2-13)

The Book of Deuteronomy (second law) is a series of addresses given by Moses to the people of Israel in Moab, when they were about to enter the land of Canaan that God had promised them. In chapter 28 we have the positive ‘Blessings For Obedience’ (Deuteronomy 28:1-10), (Song # 1635.1), and the negative ‘Curses For Disobedience’ (Deuteronomy 28:15-29) (Song # 1636.1). 
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands that I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth (Deuteronomy 28:1). All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 28:2). You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country (Deuteronomy 28:3). Your children will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock, the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks (Deuteronomy 28:4). You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out (Deuteronomy 28:6). The Lord will defeat your enemies who rise up before you (Deuteronomy 28:7). The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land He is giving you (Deuteronomy 28:8). The Lord will establish you as His holy people, as He promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in His ways (Deuteronomy 28:9). Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the Name of the Lord, and they will fear you (Deuteronomy 28:10). 
Thought for today: trust in God today and prepare for your tomorrow. 
Thought for the future: no matter where you turn, you can always turn to God. Where will you spend your eternity?

#1635.1- Blessings For Obedience - (Deuteronomy 28:1-10)

Christ’s love compels us to believe that One died for all, and therefore all died (2 Corinthians 5:14). And He died for all, that those who love should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again (2 Corinthians 5:15). So from now on we regard no-one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer (2 Corinthians 5:16). Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18), that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed us to the message of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:19). We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf - be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20). God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). 
Thought for today: His love was shown, when He came as a man. 
Thought for tomorrow: now is the time to invest in heaven. Where will you spend your eternity?

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover” (Luke 22:8). When the hour came, Jesus and the Apostles reclined at the table (Luke 22:14). And Jesus said to them “I have eagerly desired to eat the Passover with you before I suffer” (Luke 22:15). “For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God” (Luke 22:16). After taking the cup He gave thanks and said “Take this and divide it among you” (Luke 22:17). “For I tell you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes” (Luke 22:18). And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying “This is my body given for you, do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you” (Luke 22:20). “But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table” (Luke 22:21). 
Thought for today: we can’t see God’s hand, but we can trust His heart. 
Thought for the future: Christ’s death gives us courage today, and hope for tomorrow. Where will you spend your eternity?

His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18). Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly (Matthew 1:19). But after he had considered this, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:20). “She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name of Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet (Matthew 1:22), “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel- which means ‘God with us”” (Matthew 1:23). When Joseph woke up, he did what the Angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife (Matthew 1:24). But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name of Jesus (Matthew 1:25). Some thirty years later, Jesus began to preach “Repent, for the kingdom of God is near” (Matthew 4:17). 
Thought for today: Jesus knows the way to heaven, so follow Him for life. 
Thought for the future: with God, all things are possible. Where will you spend your eternity?

Rejoice greatly in the Lord for you have been renewed (Philippians 4:10). Learn to be content, whatever the circumstances (Philippians 4:11). Know what it is to be in need, and know what it is to have plenty. Learn the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want (Philippians 4:12). Do everything through Christ, and He will give you strength (Philippians 4:13). And He will share in your troubles (Philippians 4:14). Understand the Gospel with giving and receiving (Philippians 4:15), and help those who you find in need (Philippians 4:16). For when you help others, the credit goes to your account (Philippians 4:17), and you’ll receive full payment and even more (Philippians 4:18). God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever (Philippians 4:20). 
Thought for today: a place is set in heaven for those who trust in Jesus.

#1622.1- Understand The Gospel - (Philippians 4:10-20)

Some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They stirred up the whole crowd and seized him (Acts 21:27), shouting “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple area and defiled this holy place” (Acts 21:28). They had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with Paul and assumed that Paul had brought him into the temple area (Acts 21:29). The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. Seizing Paul, they dragged him from the temple, and immediately the gates were shut (Acts 21:30). While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar (Acts 21:31). He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul (Acts 21:32). The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done (Acts 21:33). Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks (Acts 21:34). When Paul reached the steps, the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers (Acts 21:35). 
Thought for today: when you follow Jesus, you’re on the righteous path. 
Thought for tomorrow: thank God for what you have, trust God for what you need. Where will you spend your eternity?

We read in the Book of Matthew in chapter 13 that Jesus was not honoured for the miracles He performed, or as a prophet by the people in His hometown. This is one of the few references to Jesus’ family in the Holy Bible where we learn the name of His brothers. 
When Jesus came to His home town, He began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked (Matthew 13:54). “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His Mother’s name Mary, and aren’t His brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?” (Matthew 13:55). “Aren’t all His sisters with us? Where did this man get all these things?” they said (Matthew 13:56). And they took offence at Him. But Jesus said to them “Only in His home town and in His own house is a prophet without honour” (Matthew 13:57). And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith (Matthew 13:58). 
Thought for today: Jesus asks us to join Him for life. 
Thought for the future: Jesus knows the way to heaven, so follow Him for eternal life. Where will you spend your eternity?

#855.2- Prophet Without Honour - (Matthew 13:54-58)

Song # 1608.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In Acts chapter 7 and 8 we read of the death of Stephen, and the persecution of the Church in Jerusalem by Saul. 
Stephen fell to his knees and he fell asleep (Acts 7:60). And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the Church at Jerusalem, and all except the Apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria (Acts 8:1). Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him (Acts 8:2). But Saul began to destroy the Church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison (Acts 8:3). Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went (Acts 8:4). Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there (Acts 8:5). But some of them became obstinate, they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus (Acts 19:9). This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord (Acts 19:10). 
Thought for today: make Christ your mission, not omission.

The mention of “shepherds and leaders of the flock” in verses 34 and 35 relates to the church leaders and authorities failing to uphold the spiritual welfare of God’s people. As a result, the Lord told His prophet Jeremiah to warn the people: 
Now prophesy these words and say “The Lord will roar from on high, He will thunder from His holy dwelling and roar mightily against this land. He will shout like those who tread the grapes, shout against all who live on the earth” (Jeremiah 25:30). The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth, for the Lord will bring charges against the nations, He will bring judgement on all mankind and put the wicked to the sword” declares the Lord Almighty (Jeremiah 25:31). This is what the Lord Almighty says “Look! Disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth” (Jeremiah 25:32). “At that time those slain by the Lord will be everywhere, from one end of the earth to the other. A man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property (Acts 5:1). Then Peter said “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?” (Acts 5:3). “Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing. You have not lied to men, but to God” (Acts 5:4). When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened (Acts 5:5). Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him (Acts 5:6). About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened (Acts 5:7). Peter asked her “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes” she said “that is the price” (Acts 5:8). Peter said to her “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also” (Acts 5:9). At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband (Acts 5:10).
