I. INTRODUCTION 
 A. One by one, the lights of decency are being blown out in America. 
 B. 1 Samuel 8:18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day. 
 C. The Prophet Isaiah warned a sinful nation that their sins have created a barrier between them and God so that He would not hear their prayers. (Is.59:1-4) 
II. THE SINS OF THE NATION DURING ISAIAH’S DAY 
 A. BLOODY Hands (v 3a) 
 1. America has bloody hands through the KILLING of pre-born babies. 
 2. Since the 1973 decision of Roe v. Wade, America is now killing up to 4000 babies each day - 58,586,256 innocent babies. 
 B. LYING Lips (v 3b) 
 1. American suffers from a decline in basic HONESTY. (Matthew 5:3, James 5:12 ) 
 C. WICKED Hearts (v 4) 
 1. Our society tells us that private morality can be disconnected from public service. 
 2. In our society, public approval validates wrong behavior 
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 
III. WHAT CAUSES THESE CONDITIONS? (vv 5-6) 
 A. A Diet of DECEPTION (v 5) 
 1. Lies and Philosophies hatched out through the incubators of: 
 a. MATERIALISM 
 b. HUMANISM 
 c. NEW AGEISM 
 d. LIBERALISM 
 B. A Web of WICKEDNESS (v 6) 
 1. PORNOGRAPHY 
 2. DRUGS and ALCOHOL 
 3. IMMORALITY 
 C. The Trashing of TRUTH (vv 12-15) 
 1. When you stand for TRUTH and against the Deception and Wickedness, you become the bad guy in the eyes of many. (v 15) 
 2. There is a traffic jam - JUDGMENT, JUSTICE, and EQUITY cannot enter because Truth is fallen in the streets (v 14) 
 3. TRUTH is not dead, but it has Fallen in America 
IV. THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUTH 
 A. God refers to the Bible as the Word of TRUTH (Eph. 1:13) 
 B. The Holy Spirit is referred to as the Spirit of TRUTH (John 14:17) 
 C. God describes Himself as TRUTH (John 14:6) 
 D. Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life 
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 
 E. The Church is called the pillar and the ground of TRUTH 
(1 Timothy 3:15) 
 F. The Apostle John said, (3 John 4:1) 
 G. The only way to defeat Deception and Wickedness is through TRUTH 
V. WE MUST REDEDICATE OURSELVES TO THETRUTH 
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

“Why the Cross?” 1 Peter 3:18 
 
I. The Subsitutionary PURPOSE of the Cross (v 18) 
 A. We are the UNJUST this verse of Scripture refers to. 
 1. We are sinful by BIRTH. 
 2. We are sinful by NATURE. 
 3. We are sinful by PRACTICE. 
 4. We are sinful by CHOICE. 
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 
 B. God is HOLY and cannot overlook sin. 
 C. Sin brings a PENALTY, and sin must be punished. 
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 
 D. Not only is God holy, but God is also LOVING. 
 E. There must be someone who PAYS the penalty for sin. 
 F. God PROPHESIED the cross and substitution in the Old Testament. 
 1. Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 17:19; 22:1-14) 
Hebrews 11:17-19 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure. 
 2. Mt. Moriah is the same mountain on which Jesus was crucified. 
 3. Isaac, in OBEDIENCE to his father, submitted to being bound and placed upon the altar. 
John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. 
 4. Jehovah-Jireh means “The God Who ill Provide.” 
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 
 5. The PASSOVER lamb is a picture of substitution. (Exodus 12:1-13) 
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 
The Suffering PASSION of the Cross 
 A. The EMOTIONAL suffering of Jesus 
Luke 22:42-44 
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 
 1. What was in the cup that Jesus spoke of in this passage? 
 a. The POLLUTION of sin 
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 
 b. The PUNISHMENT of sin - Isaiah 53:10a, b Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: 
Romans 8:32a He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, 
Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 
 B. The PHYSICAL suffering of Jesus 
John 19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 
 1. The purpose of a scourging was to beat the individual so near to death that he could not walk away. 
 2. The word “excruciate” means “out of the cross” 
 The Settled PROVISION of the Cross 
 A. “Christ also hath once suffered” 
 1. This means ONE TIME; it will never happen again. 
 2. The PRICE has been paid. 
 B. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 
 1. It is FINISHED; it is paid in full 
IV. The Saving POWER of the Cross 
 A. “that He might bring us to God” 
 1. The Greek word for “bring” means to take someone and bring them to another person. 
 2. When we come into Heaven’s throne room, there is One who will take us by the hand and bring us in; His name is Jesus. 
 3. Jesus has RECONCILED us to God. 
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

 b. An unguarded STRENGTH is a double WEAKNESS 
 c. Peter had the wrong ENEMY

 e. Peter used the wrong WEAPON

 f. Peter had the wrong ATTITUDE - James 1:20 
III. Your ACTIONS will SURPRISE You (v. 33) 
 A. Peter did not expect to DENY Jesus - 1 Corinthians 10:12 
Proverbs 28:26; Jeremiah 17:9 
 B. When we stand on our abilities, our ACTIONS will surprise us 
IV. Your ADVOCATE will SECURE You (v. 31-32) 
 A. We have an ADVERSARY, but we also have an ADVOCATE in Jesus - 1 John 2:1 
 B. Even though our ACTIONS surprise us, they do not surprise Jesus 
 C. God doesn’t love us because we are VALUABLE; we are valuable because God loves us (Ro. 8:33-39) 
 D. Jesus PRAYS for us just as He prayed for Peter 
John 17:9; John 17:15; John 17:20; Hebrews 7:25 
 E. Why did Jesus allow Satan to sift Peter? To reveal the IMPURITIES in Peter’s heart. 
 F. Even though Jesus protects us, sifting greatly AFFECTS our lives - Luke 22:62 
 G. The happiest man on Earth is the man who takes SHAME for Jesus - Acts 5:41

“The Three Misconceptions of Man”, 1 John 1:6 - 2:2 
 
Misconception #1: That man can FELLOWSHIP with God and still walk in SIN (v 6-7) 
A. That we can FELLOWSHIP with God and walk in DARKNESS (v 6) 
 1. This is a LIE 
 2. This is not the TRUTH 
B. The TRUTH: We must walk in the LIGHT (v 7) 
 1. Produces true FELLOWSHIP 
 2. Cleanses us from SIN 
 a. Through the BLOOD of Christ 
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 
Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Misconception #2: That man is not totally SINFUL and DEPRAVED (crooked, bad, corrupt, perverted) (v 8-9) 
A. We are not totally sinful or depraved (v 8) 
 1. This is a DECEPTION (the fact of or condition of being deceived) 
 2. This is not the TRUTH

B. The Truth: We must CONFESS our sins (v 9) 
 1. Because God is FAITHFUL and JUST 
 2. Because God FORGIVES 
Misconception #3: That man can become SINLESS and RIGHTEOUS on his own (1:10-2:2) 
A. We can become righteous and sinless on our own (v 10) 
 1. This makes God a LIAR 
 2. This disputes His WORD 
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 
Romans 3:12b ...there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 
B. The Truth: We are SINFUL, but we should not SIN (2:1a) 
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 
C. The Provision: If we do sin: (v 1b) 
 1. Jesus Christ is our ADVOCATE (defense lawyer 
 a.) The One who PLEADS for us before God 
 2. Jesus Christ is the PROPITIATION (v 2a) 
1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 
Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 
 a.) The ATONING (to make amends) sacrifice (v 2a) 
 b.) The RECONCILIATION for our sins (v 2b) 
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 
2 Corinthians 5:18a And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, 
 c.) And the whole WORLD (v 2c) 
2 Corinthians 5:19a To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;

“The Three Misconceptions of Man”, 1 John 1:6 - 2:2

Misconception #1: That man can FELLOWSHIP with God and still walk in SIN (v 6-7)
A.  That we can FELLOWSHIP with God and walk in DARKNESS (v 6)
     1.  This is a LIE
     2.  This is not the TRUTH
B. The TRUTH: We must walk in the LIGHT (v 7)

The Love of God, 1 John 4:7-21 
I. God’s Love is REVEALED (v 8-9) 
 A. In His WORD (v 8) 
Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 
 B. Through His SON (v 9) 
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 
II. God’s Love is REDEMPTIVE (v 9-10) 
 A. It is an ACTIVE love 
 B. REDEEMS us from our sin 
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 
 2. Not that we LOVED God, but that He LOVED us (v 10)

III. God’s Love is REASSURING (v 16-21) 
 A. His love is our FOUNDATION (v 16) 
 1. FOR our lives 
Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 
 B. His love removes FEAR (v 17-18) (cf. He. 4:16; 13:5; Matthew 28:20) 
 1. FROM our lives 
 2. Why? Because God is on our SIDE! (Romans 8:31-39) 
 C. His love bears FRUIT (v 21, 11) 
1 Thessalonians 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

*His Love is Revealed—God Loves You

I. Introduction: 
 A. Jesus is the omniscient one (All KNOWING) 
 B. Jesus is the omnipresent one (Ever PRESENT) 
 C. Jesus is the omnipotent one (All POWERFUL) 
 D. The first time He came, He wore a robe of SHAME and was MOCKED 
 E. When He comes again, He’ll sit upon the THRONE of His glory and be revealed as LORD 
1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 
Revelation 1:7-8 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 
II. The Setting (v 9) 
 A. John has been EXILED to the isle of Patmos 
 B. God gives John a VISION of the Lord Jesus 
Revelation 1:10-18 
III. Ten Things John Saw About the Lord Jesus (v 12-18) 
 A. He is the RESURRECTED Christ with undiminished humanity (v 12-13) 
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 
 B. He is the REIGNING Christ with unrivaled majesty (v 13) 
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 
 C. He is the RIGHTEOUS Christ with unblemished purity (v 14)

 1. If we do not CONFESS Jesus as Lord and ACCEPT His salvation, then we will stand before Him for JUDGMENT

 D. He is the REVEALING Christ with unhindered scrutiny (v 14)

“Birthmarks of the Believer” 1 John 2:3-10 
I. Introduction (1 John 2:4-9) 
 A. Those who are Heaven-born are Heaven-bound and bear certain TRAITS or BIRTHMARKS 
 B. If we do not bear these birthmarks, then we need to EVALUATE and ask ourselves if we have ever truly trusted Jesus as Lord. 
Romans 12:3 , 1 Corinthians 11:28a, 2 Corinthians 13:5 
II. A True Believer SUBMITS to the LORDSHIP of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:3-4) 
 A. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 
 B. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 
 C. Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 
 D. To keep His commandments doesn’t mean that we are to be perfect. The word “keep” in 1 John 2:3 means to guard, as you would guard a treasure. We are to treasure God’s commandments and set our course in life by keeping the commandments 
 E. This does not mean that we will not STUMBLE; but if we have no desire to live by the Word of God and we sin carelessly, flippantly, and without any conviction, then we need the salvation that Jesus offers. 
 F. We keep His COMMANDMENTS (word), not in order to be SAVED, but because we LOVE Him. 
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 
III. A True Believer SEEKS the LIFESTYLE of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:5-6) 
 A. We are to WALK as Jesus walked 
1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 
 B. What was the LIFESTYLE of Jesus like? 
 1. A life of HONESTY 
1 John 1:6-7 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 
 2. A life of PURITY 
1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 
 3. A life of RIGHTEOUSNESS 
1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 
 C. We seek the lifestyle of Jesus by ABIDING 
 1. What does it mean to abide? 
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 
 a. A life of RELIANCE upon Jesus 
 b. A life of RELINQUISHMENT to Jesus 
IV. A True Believer SHARES the LOVE of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:9-10) 
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 
Note: Jesus doesn’t love us because we’re lovely; He simply loves us. 
V. Conclusion 
 *If a person is saved, it will show in his life. 
 *We are not saved by keeping the commandments; we are not saved by walking as Jesus walked; we are not saved by loving our brother; but if we are saved, these things will be present in our lives.

I. The PERSONAL Witness of the SAINTS (v 39) 
 A. The apostles were a DIVERSE group, yet they were UNITED in their witness 
 B. They were eyewitnesses of the VIRTUOUS life of Jesus (vv 34, 38) (Ma. 17:1-5) 
 C. They were eyewitnesses of His VICARIOUS death (v 39) (Deut. 21:23) 
 D. They were eyewitnesses of His VICTORIOUS resurrection (vv 40-41) 
 E. As believers in Jesus Christ, we also have a PERSONAL witness 
 1. What we have not seen with out physical eyes, we have seen through the eye of FAITH 
 2. Jesus has Called us to be His WITNESSES, not His LAWYERS 
II. The PROPHETIC Witness of the SCRIPTURES (v 43) 
 A. The THEME of the Old Testament is the Lord Jesus Christ 
 B. Fulfilled PROPHECY is one of the greatest proofs that Jesus Christ is the Son of God 
 C. All of the PROPHETS speak in agreement that Jesus is Lord

III. The PERSUASIVE Witness of the SPIRIT (v 44) (Acts 1:8)

 Note: It is God the Holy Spirit who CONVICTS us of the truth of Jesus Christ

 Note: When the Holy Spirit witnesses to us and we believe on Him, the witness then lives within us

"How Shall They Hear?" Romans 10:17

“The Progress of the Gospel” Colossians 1:3-8

Here in this passage we’re going to see the progress of the Gospel as evidence in the life of a believer. Paul presents seven aspects of the Gospel and the Gospel Truth to these believers here at Colosse. 
I. The Gospel Truth is RECEIVED by FAITH (vv. 3-4a) 
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 
 A. Faith’s object is JESUS CHRIST 
II. The Gospel Truth RESULTS in LOVE (v. 4b) 
 John 13:34, John 15:12, John 15:17 
III. The Gospel Truth RESTS in HOPE (v. 5) 
 1 Thessalonians 2:19, Titus 2:13, 1 Peter 1:3 
IV. The Gospel Truth REACHES the WORLD (v. 6a) 
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 
John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 
V. The Gospel Truth PRODUCES FRUIT (v. 6b) 
 Here in John chapter 15 we are exhorted to: 
 *bear fruit (v. 4)*bear more fruit (v. 2)*bear much fruit (vv. 5, 8) 
 *bring forth fruit (vv. 2, 5, 16)*fruit that remains (v. 16) 
 A. The Kind of Fruit we are to bear: 
 1. The Fruit of PATIENCE (Luke 8:15)

Here in this passage we’re going to see the progress of the Gospel as evidence in the life of a believer. Paul presents seven aspects of the Gospel and the Gospel Truth to these believers here at Colosse.
I.  The Gospel Truth is RECEIVED by FAITH (vv. 3-4a)
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The word “Christian” today has become a household word and used by almost everybody. But the question is this: Are YOU a Christian? Some believe that they were born into Christianity by being a citizen of the United States. Some think they are Christians because their parents are/were, or because they had a preacher in the family years ago. Some think it's because they give to charity work or because they go to church. 
 
 *I’m a GOOD person 
Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 
 
*By doing WORKS 
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 
2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 
 
*By being RIGHTEOUS 
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 
 
*By my DEEDS 
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. 
 
*By keeping the LAW 
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 
 
Becoming a Christian, according to the New Testament, is a definite act with significant results. As a matter of fact, there are no fewer than thirty-three simultaneous and instantaneous divine undertakings and transformations, which collectively constitute the salvation of a soul, and take place the moment one exercises his or her Faith in Christ and is Saved. Here are just three: 
 
1. A believer in Christ has the guilt of his sins REMOVED 
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 
2. He is taken out of Adam, the sphere of CONDEMNATION and placed in Christ, the sphere of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTIFICATION. 
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 
3. He is given a new standing by virtue of his being placed “In Christ” by the Spirit’s BAPTIZING work.

Conclusion: A Christian then, is not one who does certain things for God (his own works [Eph. 2:8-9]) but...one for whom God has done for (God's unmerited favor and mercy: His grace [Eph. 2:8-9]). He is not so much one who conforms to a certain manner of life as he is one who has received the gift of eternal life. He is not one who depends upon a hopelessly imperfect state but rather one who has reached a perfect standing before God as being in Christ. It is Christ's blood that covers us and makes us pure before God. His blood (the spotless, pure Lamb of God) shed for us makes the transaction sure. Not our works. 
 
Romans 5:19 
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 
So, Are you a Christian? You can be sure today, 
1. Call on Jesus today by faith in prayer: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 
2. Confess with your mouth that He is the Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:9-10 
3. Believe that He is the Lord and Messiah over all. Romans 10:12 
4. Receive Him into your heart and life. 
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12

Intro: Since the Lord God created the human family as intelligent, moral and spiritual beings, we have power and privilege to choose. None other of the creation has this total ability. We can at our own expense and outcome, choose right or wring, good or bad, Christ or Satan, Heaven or Hell. It is up to you how you die - as a sinner or Saint.

Intro: According to John Bunyan, the wise interpreter of the inner life, “the school of the cross is the school of light.” The Christian life begins at the cross of Christ. Christian experience and life develops by association with the cross. 
 
I. Christ Crucified FOR Us 
Galatians 3:13 
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 
A. The Truth of SUBSTITUTION is Revealed 
1. Here Christ takes the PLACE of the sinner in the experience of the cross 
Romans 3:25 
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 
1 John 2:2 
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world 
1 John 4:10 
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

A. The Doctrine of PROCLAMATION is Revealed 
1. The fact that right before your very eyes, Jesus was OPENLY and GRAPHICALLY crucified 
2. As a result, nothing should ROB us of the glory of that cross 
III. The CHRISTIAN Crucified with Christ 
Galatians 2:20

A. The Message of IDENTIFICATION is Stressed 
1. When He died, I DIED with Him

IV. The FLESH Crucified In Us

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 
A. The word “flesh” is meant the SELF-LIFE 
1. That is, the godless human nature 
B. The CHRISTLY life must hold sway over the self-life 
1. That is, with its passions and appetites and desires 
C. DEAD to the old, he is Alive to the new

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

“The Over-Ripe Harvest,” John 4:35-39

Here in verse 35, Jesus said: “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” In other words, Jesus is saying ‘for the harvest is ripe, the task is urgent.’ 
 
 
I. There was a REVELATION of Christ, the Savior (John 1:14) 
A. She SAW a man (a Jew, Messiah, Savior) (vv 9-10) 
B. She HEARD absolute truth (vv 10, 13-14) (Ro. 10:17) 
C. She FELT the warmth of Divine love and understanding (v 14) 
II. There was a REALIZATION of Sin (vv 16-18) 
A. Her PAST sins begin to race through her mind (v 16) 
B. Her PRESENT state brought genuine conviction to her heart (v 17) 
C. The POWER of sin can be broken by the Savior 
III. There was a Request for Salvation (vv 15-27) 
A. “Sir GIVE me this water.” (vv 15, 10, 13-14) 
B. “I KNOW that Messiah cometh” (v 25) 
C. “Is not this the CHRIST?” (v 29) 
IV. There was the RECEIVING Christ (v 39) 
A. There was faith to TRUST Him as the Savior (v 39a) (Ro. 19:9; 1 John 1:12)

The Over-Ripe Harvest, John 4:35-39

Why David Fought Goliath” 1 Samuel 17:3-52

I suppose the quickest answer as to why David fought Goliath is because Goliath defied and defiled the Name of Jehovah God of Israel. David was livid. How dare anyone defy his God! 
It will either comfort you or anger you to know that there are still many of God's people around the United States of America who are fighting a force that seems bigger than they. No matter the opposition, we will stand up and speak out and defy those who defy our Lord and Savior. Whether it be governments or people or organizations or religions or cults. 
But why is it that whenever many are faced with difficult circumstances or people that they feel so inferior and 'not up for the fight' and give up before they have even started to fight? 
We must remember what David found out. And of course he learned it as a child. 
He learned not to fear whatever was stronger than him...not lions, not bears, not people, not governments...not anything. We need to take a lesson from David. 
So was David some great name in Israel? Was he strong and famous? Was he more than what we are? 
David was not a soldier in the army of Israel. He was considered too insignificant. He was only a shepherd. But God saw him differently. All it takes is a man or woman, boy or girl, to have a heart that is set apart unto God. That is what makes the difference. 
 
I. He Believed that there was a CAUSE (v 29) 
A. The ENEMY of God’s people (vv 3-10) 
1. His SIZE (v 4) 
2. His ARMOR (vv 5-7) 
3. His CHALLENGE (vv 8-10) 
B. The DISCOURAGED and DEFEATED attitude of God’s people (vv 10-11, 24) 
C. God had been DEFILED (vv 26, 36, 45) 
II. He Realized that there was a CALL (vv 13-33) 
A. David is considered too YOUNG and INSIGNIFICANT by Saul and the others to be a soldier (vv 13-15) 
B. He is on an ERRAND for his father when he becomes aware of Goliath’s Challenge (vv 17-23 
C. God used this challenge of Goliath and the Fearfulness of Israel to Arouse David to feel his PERSONAL Responsibility to meet Goliath (vv 25-33) 
III. He Possessed a CONSECRATION (vv 34-36) 
A. He had been FAITHFUL as a shepherd boy 
B. He had been secretly ANOINTED King of Israel (Ch. 16:12-13) 
C. He felt a divine OBLIGATION to his people 
D. He was DEVOTED to God and His CAUSE 
IV. He Knew that there was a CURE (vv 38-52 
A. The PROVISION of the world was refused (vv 38-39) 
B. David CHOSE his means (v 40) 
C. He was MOCKED by his enemy (vv 41-44) 
D. He CONFESSED his faith (vv 45-47) 
E. He EXPERIENCED God’s power (v 49) 
F. He was VICTORIOUS over his enemy (vv 50-51) 
G. He was a source of INSPIRATION and ENCOURAGEMENT to God’s people (v 52)

Why David Fought Goliath” 1 Samuel 17:3-52

“The Grace of God” Titus 2:11-15

When the early Christians looked at what God had done for men, they had to add a deeper and much richer meaning to the word “Grace.” Therefore, grace became the favor of God showed upon men - men who did not deserve His favor. Grace became the kindness and love that God freely gives to His enemies. No other word so expresses the depth and riches of the heart and mind of God. 
 *God’s grace is not Earned. It is something completely Undeserved and Unmerited. 
 
Ephesians 2:8-9 
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 
 
 *God’s grace is the Free Gift of God. God extends His grace toward man. 
 
Romans 3:24 
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 
 
Ephesians 2:4-5 
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 
 
 *God’s grace is the Only Way man can be saved. 
 
Romans 5:15 
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 
 
1 Corinthians 1:4 
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 
 
2 Corinthians 8:9 
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. 
 
Therefore we conclude that “Grace” means all the favors and gifts of God. All the good and perfect gifts of God. All the good and beneficial things He gives us and does for us, whether physical, material, or spiritual. 
 
James 1:17 
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
