“You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But I will not be here with you much longer. She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time.” (Mark 14:7-8 NLT) 
 
Lord, help us to see our real motivation. On the surface, we think we do a good work, but it could come from our self-justification that we just want to feel we are doing all right. Or, we are motivated by competitive mind that we just don’t want to see others do better job. Or, we just want to hide our half way commitment. Lord, search our hearts and find out our crooked thoughts. Lead us in the everlasting way. Lord, let us hear your voice says, “You are precious in my eyes. I love you.” “Don’t be afraid. I am always with you. You are mine.” Lord, thank you for your cross. You redeemed us by your life and now we belong to you 100 %. There is nothing can separate us from you love. Oh Holy Spirit, guide our day. We will do all our best to live for you, Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.

“At that time I said to Joshua, 'You have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. He will do the same to all the kingdoms on the west side of the Jordan. Do not be afraid of the nations there, for the LORD your God will fight for you.'” (Deuteronomy 3:21-22 NLT) 
 
Thank you Lord for your promise. You delivered Israel from the hands of Egyptians and led their 40-year journey in the wilderness. You miraculously made a way dividing the Red Sea and destroyed all Egyptians army. You were the one who fought against Egyptians and their gods and had the victory over them. You provided all their needs although they didn’t trust you but complained to you many times. Lord, you did as you promised. You divided the Jordan river and brought Israel to the other side and gave them the land. But they had to follow you, obey you, lived out your Word. Before they moved, you told them “Do not be afraid.” You knew their hearts very well. Here we are, listening to your promise and knowing what you have done by your mighty power. But we are still afraid. Thank you Lord, you are our God who is always with us, protects us, provides all our needs, and gives us your peace. Lord, we will abide in you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, thank you for your presence in us. Thank you Holy Spirit for living in us. You are the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Holiness. Lord, we are sorry for the times we had unclean minds, the times we just followed sinful thoughts, the times we did not take the spiritual armor and did not fight against spiritual force. Dear Sprit, you are the consuming fire, come and burn our sinful minds and make us holy. Fill us with your holy Spirit and make us the temple of the Holy Spirit. Help us to keep ourselves away from unclean things and let us know how to fight the spiritual battle with your spiritual armor. Thank you Jesus, in you we have victory. In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, we are the one of little faith. Just looking at waves, we drop into fear. When things do not go as we want, we start to doubt if you care us. Oh Lord, help us overcome our unbelief. It seems we become the salves of works. Lord, help us to take your yoke, not our own plans, agendas, or preferences. Lord, we sorry for the times that we didn’t listen to you but follow the world. Forgive us, Lord. Lord, you are our master who is gentle and kind. And, you are the king of kings, who has the highest authority and is in control everything. In you, we have peace. Lord, thank you for cleaning up the temple. Lord, our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. So we must be the people of prayer, praying in the Spirit on all occasions. Then, what are we praying for? Making more money, having more comfortable life, getting things go well as we wish. Lord, sorry for the times that our prayers are just self-centered. Lord, clean up our minds by your consuming fire. May you transform us into the people who seek your kingdom and your righteousness. Restore us as your temple. Lord, you said you would build the temple in three days. So you died on the cross and on the third day, you rose again. Lord, may you rebuilt your temple, us. We need revival. In Jesus name. Amen.

A Prayer of the Day. “For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith.” (1 John 5:3-4 NRSV) 
 
Dear Father, thank you for Advent, the time of waiting for Christmas. You sent your Beloved Son Jesus for our salvation. Jesus, thank you for showing us what the life of God’s child is like. You knew how much your Father loved you, so you loved him very much. In the same way, we are loved by the Father. Thank you Holy Spirit, that you made us children of God and let us call him “Abba, father.” There is nothing can separate us from the love of God. Love set us free to follow your word, Lord. Love makes us strong. Love guards our hearts from anger. Love keeps us from fight. Love drives us being salt and light. The light shines in the darkness. The light overcomes the darkness. A Prayer of the Day. Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called-- that you might inherit a blessing. For "Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit; let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the 
Lord is against those who do evil." (1 Peter 3:9-11 NRSV) 
 
Lord, thank you for salvation. We’re adapted into God’s family through Jesus. Heaven is our home and we’re here just for temporary. We inherit every spiritual blessing. Why should we complain what we don’t have? Why should we be envious for others? Why should we fight to get more? Lord, fill us with your Holy Spirit once again. Let us speak the word of blessings. Let us speak truth in love to build up others. Let us sing a song of praise, how great is our God. Let thanksgiving overflow from our mouth, God is good all the time. Let us speak the word of compassion, kindness, and gentleness to bring rest and peace to those who in troubles and business. Lord, thank you for listening to our prayers. In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your redemption, giving your precious-sinless life to remove sin from us. On the cross, you made a great exchange that you took our sin and gave us your righteousness. Now we are children of God, not slaves of sin. Now we are in the light of truth, not in the darkness, deceitfulness, hopelessness of death. Now we have life, eternal life. Lord, help us to live worthily of the gospel. We don’t want to go back to the darkness. We don’t want to be a salve of sin, fear, anger, and death again. Lord, let us shine your light in this uncertain time. Let us witness your power of the gospel. Let us share the joy of salvation to people around us. In Jesus name. Amen.

#14 "Three Testimonies” (John 5:31-47)

For Self-Reflection
1. What can be cases in which you study the Bible but do not come to Jesus?
2. How can seeking honor from people prevent a person from coming to Jesus?
3. Read Mark 4:3-20. Looking back last one week, can you identify which soil represent the condition of your heart? Can you recognize any pattern? 
4. What are you doing to make your heart “good soil”? What would your heart be like if you stop these practices? What would you do to nurture your heart daily?

Three Testimonies (John 5:31-47)

A Prayer of the Day. “But the LORD is with me like a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they will not prevail. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten.” (Jeremiah 20:11 NRSV) 
 
Lord, I am so grateful that you are on my side. You are my refuge in times of trouble. You are my comforter when I am depressed. Just being a Christ follower is a real battle in societies. Sharing the good news is like a sheep goes into a flock of wolf. When people ignore me, I feel I am cut off from the relationship. When people make fun of my faith, I feel I am smashed. Lord Jesus, you have experienced these and said, “Take courage. I have overcome the world.” And you prayed for those who crucified you, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Lord, it is so true that they do not know what they are doing, where they are heading toward. They cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ. Lord, shine your light through me and strengthen me to continue to stand firm for the sake of the gospel, hope of nations. Jeremiah 20:11 (a prayer of the day)

A Prayer of the Day. "But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. … Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:18-19, 24 NIV) 
 
Lord, thank you for hearing our prayer. You’ve known the cry of our souls. You are not only listening to our prayers but also carrying our burdens together with us in the mildest of challenges and difficulties. Lord, when you created the heavens and the earth, you said it was good. Lord, now you’ve promised that you will create new heavens and a new earth. There will be full of joy, no more tears and no more mourning. I don’t know how but I know you will do it, and it’s happening. Lord, help us to stand firm to your promise in this challenging time. Fill our mouths with praise and delight to you because you are a great God and doing wonderful things. In Jesus name. Amen.

A Prayer of the Day. “When You did awesome things which we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence.” (Isaiah 64:3 NASB) 
 
Lord, we bow down before your holy presence. You have shared your will with us through your servants and warned us of the danger but we often refused to listen to you. Lord, we ask your forgiveness, forgive our conceit that we know everything and that we can handle everything. Forgive our self-centeredness, judgmental attitude, worshiping idols: money, comfortable life, popularity, power, and self-right. Lord, we are just the clay of dust, you are the potter. Create in us a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and grant us a willing spirit, to sustain us. Lord, you are our God, we are your people. In Jesus name. Amen.

Isaiah 64:3 (a prayer of the day)

A Prayer of the Day. “Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.” (Colossians 1:10 NLT) 
 
Lord, I pray for brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, thank you for their lives, their commitment to you, their love for you and for others. Lord, protect them from temptations, life’s worries, riches, and pleasures. Keep them from Satan’s lie that they cannot honor and please you, Lord. Help them to hear your voice “You are precious in my eyes. I’m well pleased by you, my child.” Help them to know you more and more. Bring them closer to you. Father, pour your Spirt and fill them with you Spirit. Holy Spirit, be their life and direct their minds and drive their actions. Bear your fruit in their lives so that the Father will be glorified. In Jesus name. Amen.

Colossians 1:10 (a prayer of the day)

A Prayer for the Day. "I will put away perversity from my mouth and keep corrupt talk far from my lips." (Proverbs 4:24) 
 
Dear Lord, I come to you with the humble attitude. Lord I need you. Help me to not let any corrupt word come out of my mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs. I know my mouth will speak what things are in my mind. Lord, help me to see your beauty and your wonderful works. And fill me with these so that my words may bring your fragrance and impart grace to those who hear. Lord, I pray for all kinds of media that they may share the truth and help people to build up their lives. In Jesus name. Amen.

Proverbs 4:24 (a prayer of the day)

A Prayer of the Day. 
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh. … Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-11, 15 NRSV) 
 
Lord, thank you for your death and resurrection. You who is righteous died for us who are sinners and make us righteous. You gave up the heaven and came to us in human form. You gave up almighty power and experienced hardships, sufferings, and pains as human. You humbled yourself, took the very nature of a servant, and served people. You wrapped a towel around the waist, and prepared water, washed the disciples' dirty feet. You did all these because of your love for us. This is who you are. This is our God. Thank you Lord for your amazing love and awesome grace. Your love is active, alive, and real, not just teaching nor philosophy. And, now you are calling us to follow you. Lord, help us to remember that we died on the cross with you and live with you in your resurrection. We are not able to serve like you did, but we can do it by the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us, among us. So that people see that this is your work, not ours. May your glory be manifested. May your name be praised. In Jesus name. Amen.
